We’re serving champagne BEFORE the ceremony so guests have something to drink while waiting for the ceremony to start. I think that’s better than serving alcohol during the ceremony, especially at a church.
I love it… we are having a 45 minute social hour before our ceremony as well! I was thinking about including a champagne toast but I just don’t know if staff would be able to distribute glasses of chilled champagne in a reasonable time w/ 200 guests.
I never turn down champagne! Nobody’s going to get plastered off one glass and it would definitely get me in a lovey, romantic, fun mood!
Not appropriate in a church.
It just occured to me that we did bridal party pictures in a park prior to the ceremony and we had champagne there! It was a nice way to start the celebrations! Nobody was plastered. But it was fun and actually one of my favorite memories from wedding day!
