We’re only doing cake for desert. We have enough for 2 cupcakes each plus half enough again.. it’s your wedding, if you want just cake, have just cake!

We’re only serving cake as well. I just attended a wedding where they served cake and then some strawberries with whipped cream, but it was a small bowl.  If your that concerned you could do the same and treat it as a second option if someoen couldn’t have the cake. Otherwise I think you are fine!

Keke84:  Our cake went to waste because we served desserts. We had a dessert buffet and ended up taking 3/4 of the cake back to our hotel with us. We then spent the next day trying to give away cake to the hotel staff.

Cake for dessert is fine, many weddings I go to do this. We did because it saved us $7 per head plus I didnt want the cake going to waste. Weddings where there is a separate dessert often have the cake barely get touched as everyone is too full.

Cake is all we served and I didn’t hear any complaints. Most people will fill up on all that other delicious food you’re serving! Sounds yummy!

Keke84:  I honestly think it is perfectly fine. We are having cake and dessert, but only because it was included in our venue’s packages. If it would have cost extra we would have just opted for cake, we ended up buying cake bags because I think after appetisers, a buffet meal and dessert most people wouldn’t want to eat cake as well! Just cake as dessert is a good idea. 🙂

I don’t think I’ve gone to any weddings where they served cake and desserts so cake seems just fine!

Wedding cake really is meant to be THE dessert.  I don’t think serving guests extra dessert has really been a thing until recently.  Plus, it’s dessert. Dessert is a non-essential course.  If someone doesn’t like cake, they don’t eat cake.  It’s not a big deal.  I’m vegan, and so I usually have to pass on desserts at catered events (I go to a lot of conferences for my job, so I am in hotel catered banquets and meals pretty often).  It really doesn’t bother me.  If I had to pass on the entree on the other hand, there would be an issue.
