Hiya Bees! Apologies if this isn’t the right place to put it, but I set a roughly 1.5 carat moissy I grabbed from ebay into a rose gold setting last night, and I am so obssed with it I wanted to show it off! The prongs are a little messed up because this was my first attempt, but all in all I am thrilled with the outcome. Both the stone and the setting came from ebay, and I believe I paid less than 50 dollars total.
Has anyone else tried setting their own stones? Show me your creations! 🙂

fun!! I tried setting my own stone once…until I destroyed the prongs with fancy pliar thingies.. I won’t be doing that any more :p but good job!

Ahhhh! I hope it wasn’t too expensive! That was such a huge fear of mine when I was setting it. Luckily I only managed to scratch off some of the rose gold plating on my prongs with the pliers haha

Where did you get the setting? I have a couple I need to work on myself!

It was from an ebay seller called ‘jewelryhere09’! I’ve actually picked up two settings from them, and they’ve both been great! 🙂 If you search your stone dimensions and the term ‘semi mount’ a whole bunch come up!

I did something similar. My stone is the moodiest moissy I’ve ever seen. Initially, I wasn’t fond of the color (“off white”), and thought it might not have the greatest cut, so I set it in a cheap stainless steel ring yesterday. When I took it outside in the sunlight today, it sparkled like crazy!

That looks like a million bucks! Great job!
OP, well done on setting your own. I am way too scared!

Okay, my first one is a sterling ring and one of the mossies from India. Ring from gemodyssey. “off white yellow” was the descripton, however it is actually a bit towards a stainless steel color, but not what I would call gray, much whiter than that. It’s a .84 ct.
Next is another India mossie, .50 ct. I purchased the ring on Ebay too, from exclusivecz. I removed the cz center stone and put in the mossy. Love this one! This mossy is a tad towards the yellow, but only a bit.

I tried to find the one that i bought but I think it’s out of stock now! Here’s the sterling silver version, maybe you could message the seller and have a bit more luck!
