If you feel comfortable putting up the money to reserve the venue then go for it! I have a date and a contract on a venue and no ring. But I know the ring is coming. So it’s not a matter of “if” but “when”…if you feel like you’re in the same situation, then set a date.

My SO has talked about his next tax return as a “ring fund” too, and we have it narrowed to any Saturday except for the Saturday after the 4th of July in July of 2014.
This is because I graduate in April and wanted at least a year in order to find a job AND accrue vacation time for a honeymoon. So April 2014 was the earliest we’d do it. He wants to go to the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica for our honeymoon and July is kind of an “Indian summer” where the region gets the least amount of rain during the rainy season. April is technically pre-rain season but I liked the idea of July because it gives me a little more of a cushion and my brother turns 21 in June of that year and would otherwise be the only member of the wedding party that couldn’t drink, so I figured it’d be nice to do that for him too lol.
So that should make you feel better! I am most likely months away from a proposal, still more than a year and a half away from a wedding, and we already have not only the wedding month but also have picked out a honeymoon location! lol

I talked to him about it and he’s now saying he went through next years football schedule with me and told me all the games that don’t matter and said any of those would work, haha. He has also started referring to me as his “future bride” 🙂
