My current stone is an F Si2 eye clean GIA 1.5. If I were to change it, then I would want to go between 2-2.5, i’d go up in clarity to at least a VS2 and probably be ok with G color to compensate a bit for cost:) Honestly, I would not go down in size since it is already colorless and eye clean. Had my stone had – let’s say, less good- specs or not been eye clean, then I would go down in size to improve the specs.

LuluBee1 :  it would depend on the head or setting , but you can have that changed.

Usually only 1mm  up or down is what I have heard but depends on setting.

LuluBee1 :  You need  to ask your jewler if the head can be changed.  if it is part of the shoulders of the ring it might not be changeable.  Not all of them are so you reallly need to see a jeweler.

It really does depend on the style of the head.  My guy says there is a .1 – .5 leeway in mm size but that’s because I bring him both pieces to mount.  I’d go to a local shop and ask.  Better safe than sorry.
