So I don’t think you can go wrong with either gemstone! But I would definitely stick to all yellow gold for cohesiveness/so there’s not too much going on. Yay! Gorgeous! I’ve always wanted a target ring.

I think you should look at what you wear and what your personal color scheme is.

As an example: I have two blue sapphire rings which I don’t like to wear with my favorite nail polish colors which are all kinds of fire engine red. I find that clashes the hell out of everything. I also got a pair of really beautiful pear shaped emerald erings from my mom. I never wear them because they never match anything and are set in yellow gold and the rest of my jewelry is white. I wouldn’t say I don’t like mixing metals but yellow and white and green and then most often red nails and I feel like a parrot.

That said, I wanted to say that I really like target rings and I plan on getting one and I am already pretty sure I will go with onyx or mother of pearl. It’s going to be a rhr though.

I don’t have a vote on the gemstone but wanted to say that that diamond is gorgeous and I would definitely go with the yellow gold!

mjay :  I’m an emerald person more than a Ruby person but in your case I’d do a Ruby because I think it would  bring  out the beautiful warmth more in your stone than the emerald would. I would also have it all white gold but get the bezel yellow gold again to accent the warmth. When I think of target rings I always think of white metals. I don’t recall seeing any really in a  solid yellow gold. They are usually either white gold or yellow gold band with  white metal holding the stones….so for historical accuracy (or my uneducated perception of it) I’d do white metal and a only a bezel of yellow gold.

Beautiful stone and please post it when it’s done.

Adding this photo because it’s the reason I’m now coveting an emerald target ring. This one is two tone, but the lighting makes it look all yellow gold here, and I adore it. I said over on PS that it reminds me of The Wizard of Oz. (That’s a good thing. Lol!) it’s also a print setting instead of a bezel, which I find quite unique for this style.
