Hi Bees,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with any of the popular makeup setting sprays–either for their wedding day or any other 12-14+ hour day? Seems like UD All Nighter, Skindinavia Bridal Makeup Finish, or Ben Nye are the most popular setting sprays.
Also came across Ben Nye Neutral Set Setting Powder and Tarte Smooth Operator™ Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder in my research.

My wedding will be in hot/humid NYC this August so it will likely be 80s-90s and very humid. We will be outdoors in the AM taking photos before the ceremony and will also have an outdoor cocktail hour so I definitely want to invest in a setting spray and/or powder

Just wondering if any makeup gurus here could share your experiences/insights with any of these products or attest to whether they work? Also, should I use both a powder + spray? Would it work better/hold longer or just make one or the other cakey?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I use UD Allnighter. Its pretty light, but lasts all night. I love it and I’ve used it for several weddings. Works great!

I use Urban Decay Chill setting spray after Jaclyn Hill raved about it. And I love it. My makeup lasts all day and stays looking fresh all day. Doesn’t break me out.
But I bought Skindanavia’s Bridal setting spray specifically to use for my wedding day after reading such great reviews. I haven’t tested it out yet though.

I love UD All Nighter, I’ve used Ben Nye on myself and it’s kind of sticky (smells great tho!) haha

I use Ben Nye. Zero make up transfer. Only words of caution are that it smells/feels like spraying listerine on your face. The prayer on mine did not spray very finely so I would mist my face and then use a stipple brush with transluscent powder to make sure it covered all my make up and not just little spots.

thanks for all the advice ladies! Seems like UD got the most votes so I’ll give that a shot 🙂

If you’re oily, the UD De Slick Setting Sprray is awesome. I use that in the summer when I’m oilier and then Chill or All Nighter in the colder months.

ceekay: Model In A Bottle
all the way!!! My first bottle was given to me by my make up artist from my wedding. She uses it on all her clients and it’s amazing. As a wedding photographer myself, I spray it on and can shoot an entire wedding (long, sweaty, etc) and my makeup always stays put!

I feel like the UD spray will get the most votes because it’s the most well-known and easiest to purchase. I don’t think its the best, though. I LOVE model in a bottle and the skindinavia one too. The Ben NYE not so much bc it’s drying and I have very dry skin. If you have oily skin the Ben NYE one could be great for you Especially here in the NYc area where our summers are so humid.

Thanks ladies! Models in a Bottle it is! For future reference, in case any other bees have the same question, I found this video on Model in a Bottle via a quick Google search and it sold me! Just skip to about 5:01/5:02 to see the test. It seems too good to be true but I guess I’ll have to try it and see!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8NbvD01OyM

I bought the skindinavia bridal version and I love it. Skindinavia makes the UD formulas, too.
