Fiance and I have decided that we’d like to set up a website with wedding info as well as general life happenings. We’d like it to be something that we can continue with after the wedding is over and transition into more of a “life blog” for lack of better words.
But, I’m not sure where to begin. I’m computer literate but not html savvy so I’m trying to find something that is easy to work with until I learn more. Any suggestions?? What hosting sites do you guys use? Also, if you’re comfortable doing so, feel free to share your sites!

Hi! Weding websites are an awesome idea! For those tech savvy guests it really gives them a place where they can go and find a lot of the information they may otherwise not be able to have. Remember tho, that for those non tech savvy guests, you’ll still need to include some of the most important information in the invitation.
I used the free option from theknot.com. Its really easy to use, really easy to update and best of all its free!
Here is my site if you are intersted in seeing an example:
We are having a Disney wedding and therefore have a lot of unique information we needed to communicate with guests. While it can be overwhelming for some people, most people said they have enjoyed having all that information. Let me know what you think! 🙂
When you are done with your wedding, and you want to start the “life blog” website, I would recommend using a different address. You can include the new site in your thank you notes. But seperating your engaged life and your married life with a different web address is a really good idea.

Wow! Thanks for sharing your site! It really is very informative and yet easy to navigate. If I were one of your guests, I would find it extremely helpful!
The reasons we were thinking of having one site that transitioned from wedding to our every day life is that 1.) we’re not doing an overly elaborate wedding. We like the idea of sharing some information about the ceremony, like directions to the location (my father’s farm) for people who haven’t been there before and also some general information about local accomodations (we have very few out of town guests who won’t be staying with family and/or friends) and parking. But all vital information will be going in the invites.
And 2.) we’d also like to share parts of the planning process with our families. Fiance and I have lived together for a while and we are pretty intergrated with each other’s families so we don’t need a lot of formalities. We also want to be able to include how our 3 year old is participating in the process as well as milestones that he hits along the way.
Do you still think we should separate them? Maybe we should start 2 separate ones for the time being…a regular blog and then a separate wedding site just for informational purposes?

Fiance and I (mostly me) created a blog that we will transition to a life blog after. I hated all of the “wedding website” templates.
If you are interested in seeing it for ideas, PM me and I will send you a link

Thanks for the feedback on my site! 🙂
I love the idea of a blog and my “subscribers” love it too. Definitely the way to go! It is a lot of work, but it is such a stress reliever too! I get to vent all the time and it keeps me from blowing up sometimes!
I don’t think you can go wrong no matter how you choose to transition honestly. Whether you keep it the same site or make a transition into “life blog”. I plan to traqnsition like y’all, but am just starting a new site. The reason is just personal. Its to make an offical break from my wedding and premarried life, into married life.
I also don’t think I will have an actual offical website for married life, just a blog. I’ll have a site where people can go and see videos if I have any. But then the blog will just include a link. Hope that helps.
Its really up to you and I think both options are acceptable! 🙂

We used weddingwire.com. They have an amazing set up that basically walks you through every step. Plus it’s free! I’m not sure about the blog part but as far as websites go, I think weddingwire.com has the best. Feel free to take a look at mine for an idea. http://www.weddingwire.com/DunnAndFranklin

I am just starting one too! I am doing it with weddingwire since I really like the RSVP option!

I set up my site using Wedding Window. It’s not cheap and while I work in IT and could have coded my own site, I don’t have unlimited time resources. It’s super easy, very customizable. I haven’t quite finished with the content (I hope to be done this week before I send out the STDs). If you’d like to take a look feel free to PM me.
