Let me preface this by saying I am a super organized person, I do everything on time or early and do not use a day-planner I keep all the information in my head.
Three months back I get a letter in the mail saying that my driver’s license is going to expire on my birthday (Mar 5) this year. Great! I still have time and so I put the letter in my to do pile of papers.
That brings us to this past Saturday (Mar 21) I get pulled over by a cop because my headlight is out. I thanked him for letting me know and told him I would get it fixed this weekend. He still asked for my license, proof of insurance and registration. I give him all my paperwork and 5 minutes later he comes back and tells me that my license is expired and that I am an unlicensed driver and the fine is over $400. I am in shock. I cannot believe that I did not take care of this. I cannot believe I did not think of it again after reading the letter or around my birthday.
Luckily, the cop was super nice and just gave me a time to produce ticket to get my headlight fixed and told me not to drive until I renewed my license.
I guess with everything going on – planning the wedding, doing my PhD/studying for my candidacy exams, part-time job as a personal trainer it totally slipped my mind. Ahhhh
Anyone else have a severe case of the bride brain?

Wow, you definitely do have a lot going on. I can see something important slipping past ya. I am a super organized person too but its because I put EVERYTHING in my blackberry (which is backed up by google so I don’t have to worry about losing the info). Seriously, everything. From grocery lists to taking my BC pill to buying a new luggage lock. It is a life saver!

I put about half of my to-do list in a planner, and the other stuff I just remember. Your story makes me think that I should put everything in the planner just in case I forget!

I’m very organized normally, but the wedding is definately getting to me. Last week I emailed my seamstress to confirm the time for 7:30pm and she wrote back that it was at 6:30pm. I’ve never had a time wrong before. Sunday I was heating up some soup in the microwave and almost killed it (set the cook time for over five minutes instead of two minutes) but luckily figured that out before it overcooked. I bet a lot of us have Bride Brain..

Oh, you poor thing!! That very definitely happened to me, except I didn’t get pulled over, I was stopped by airport security. Oops. But seriously, between moving across the country, applying to PhD programs, working full time, and planning the wedding, I just DIDN’T think about it! My bad. I’m like you, I keep pretty much everything in my head, so maybe I should hop on jennifer_espos’ bandwagon and start putting things in my blackberry!

I have too, so you’re not alone! I take great pride (and sanity) in being very organized. Last week I was driving a car from my carshare and got a phone call that I didn’t have a reservation! I felt so stupid. I will have a surcharge for that, and someone had to take a taxi because I swiped their car. So now I’m trying to write down tasks as soon as they come into my brain (like within the minute) and take time each day to relax and sort through the muddle of the day.

You guys are making me think I should start using my day planner for everything!
Hopefully that will keep my bride brain under wraps 😉
But I am glad I am not alone in this syndrome LOL!
