My wedding took place this past Saturday, and like many brides that have an outside ceremony, I was stalking the weather report- which looked great until the day of. Five minutes before the ceremony was set to begin, a severe thunderstorm passed through the area. I was a nervous wreck- convinced that even though we had a tent (with no sides), that the DJ’s equipment would be ruined, I would fall on the wet patio, etc. Needless to say, the rain (and thunder and wind) made the ceremony so intimate, I actually LOVED it! One part of our ceremony talked about “sunny days and rain storms” and I burst out laughing at the irony.
So I hope this provides some hope to other brides worried about the weather. The tent saved the day, but if we didn’t have it, the thunderstorm passed in 20 minutes, a rainbow was out, and it would have went on a bit later. Rain or no Rain- your day will be beautiful!!

Thanks for your story.
Getting married in October I know I’m at risk for rain or snow (Wisconsin) but I figured it would fine either way.
Our park pavillion should provide enough cover during rain. The night he proposed, we got a surpise thunderstorm. He proposed in a gazebo during the thunderstorm, so it would be fitting if it happened during our wedding.

Thanks ladies!! I was so obsessed with the weather that it was the ONLY thing that stressed me out that day. I just wanted to reassure any stressed out brides that the show will go on, even if it rains! I’ll still cross my fingers for both of you anyways for great weather!! 🙂
