Is it painful in all positions? I am 40 weeks and I found there were certain positions that were a lot less comfortable inside – annoyingly it was spoons, which is one position they recommend during pregnancy!

I also found I was a lot more sensitive and needed a lot more lube. I think it probably is the hormones. Just spend a bit more time having fun! I imagine afterwards slow and relaxing will be few and far between!

Pregnancy hormones can dry you out. Maybe adding lube would help? Also, you are more susceptible to infections when pregnant. If there’s any change in discharge consistency, smell, or color that is also occurring, the pain and other changes could be signs that you have some sort of infection going on that should be addressed with your doctor.

Hormones can probably dry you out and make it not very comfortable, that is probably what it is.  I wouldn’t describe it as painful but after the first trimester I was just too sensitive and sex was never really that great because it was just too much and some positions were definitely a “no” as they’re too uncomfortable/painful (and not just because of a belly).  It can stay like that after birth for quite a while as well.  Think of it biologically, you don’t need to have sex because you’re already pregnant and/or your body is focused on keeping said baby alive- not getting pregnant again.  It’s very normal, but lots of women don’t know this and thing something is wrong with them.

bgswifey:  I do think this is a pregnancy thing. One of the very first things I noticed, even days after conception weirdly, was (TMI) an enlarged G-spot. Like it was much smaller in there, I attribute it to increased blood flow down there. I had been obsessively checking CM and CP for 4 cycles so I definitely knew my normal. I am 6 weeks today and noticed that it is still like this. It hasn’t affected sex in a negative way, but everyone is different, I could see how it might for you.

Lube will be your BFF. I went through this in my first tri. It got better in the second but I still count on lube every time.

I started to feel that way (like I had shrunk) in the middle of the second trimester. I attributed it to increased blood volume and everything feeling swollen (sinuses, hands and feet, etc). Unfortunately I don’t have any great tips – lube helped a bit but it was still uncomfortable.

bgswifey:  Lol sure! I bet you can too, although there are probably a wide variety of sizes.. Basically it feels like a rough sponge in the anterior vaginal canal (so its in the front). Normally it’s like the size a walnut or something, but now it’s huge.   … this is so Too Much Information.
