What did you do on your actual wedding night, after the reception?
Is it terrible that I am trying to convince my future husband that most people don’t have sex on their wedding night, and when they do it’s average? After lots of drinks and dancing, tons of food and such an early start to the day I have a feeling we might just pass out!
I feel like society has built up “your wedding night” so much that it’s almost a joke! My Fiance and I will have been together for 7 years by the time we are married, so I’m not so worried about consummating our marriage… Haha!

You don’t have the option in your poll but we both fell asleep after all the fun partying!

We had awesome sex (twice) and ate cake. We had been together 8 years but there was something special (to us) about having sex for the first time as husband and wife. And I would have been disappointed if we hadn’t had sex at all on our wedding night.
I would just let things happen naturally. You don’t need to plan on having or not having sex. Just do what you feel like in the moment.

there was no leftover cake so that wasn’t an option unfortunately. I was too tired and felt too ill, my husband was far too drunk for sex. So we got out of our wedding clothes, got into bed and opened our cards, then went to sleep. We had sex the next afternoon when we had left our families and checked into our hotel at the airport.

- Wedding: July 2017 - The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek
What happened for us isn’t an option on your poll. We ended up staying at the venue until midnight, getting to the hotel, realizing there was a leak in the ceiling, waiting to change rooms, and finally getting a new room at 1:30am. We were both exhausted after an amazing day (it’s so tiring!), so we quickly got ready for bed and went right to sleep.
The next night, however, on the first night of our honeymoon, the sex was AMAZING. I’m so glad we waited because I know if we had had sex on our wedding night, it would’ve been rushed and about average (or less than average).

We were hanging out with family from interstate until 1am. Then we both fell asleep. We did it the next morning though lol.

We didn’t on the wedding night, either. Our guests were having an after party at one of the houses they rented (it was a semi-destination wedding) and we joined them there for a while. Then we stopped by to see some other friends who were staying at a rental house next to ours. By the time we got back to our rental house we were exhausted and rather intoxicated. LOL! We passed out. We had sex the next night, though.

I had similar feelings about our wedding night as well- just worried I would be too tired!
After our reception a group of friends came back to our room and we play cards against humanity lol They left around 2am, we got into bed and opened cards and then we had sex. It wasn’t over the top amazing, but it DID feel special as the first time as husband and wife. We fell asleep right after.

I was sick and had a stuffy nose all throughout the wedding. Was extremely tired the night we went to our nice hotel. Mother-In-Law got the room for us and it was lovely, but we were too tired to enjoy it, although our wedding ended early around 8:45 PM and we got to our hotel at 9:00. I just wanted to roll over and sleep, but hubby was excited, so we did it in the dark with me half asleep and extremely tired. Have had better.

Damn it I didnt even think to bring some left over cake back to the hotel!!! Our hotel was right on the beach so we literally could have had cake by the ocean

Hmmm I voted “usual brand of sex” just because it was 4am and I was so tired, but that’s not very accurate. There’s a lot of room between spectacular and “usual!” Despite the 4am, it was awesome because it was our first married sex and that felt special. We did it twice (first time in the dress lol) and passed out! Agree with PP you should just do what feels right in the moment.

I was exhausted and it was midnight so I kinda hoped I could just go to bed lol, but husband wanted something on his wedding night so it was just a nice quicky haha. I definitely don’t think it’s unusual or weird to go straight to sleep. I certainly didn’t have the time or energy for spectacular!

undressed, had a shower, collapsed onto bed and slept. Husband wanted something but I was deep asleep by the time he got out of the shower lol

I really wanted to so we did. DH was rather tipsy though and we were both very tired. We did it, but I would actually say it was less good as our regular routine. I’m still happy we did though.
