banana86:  I mean, technically you could leave the batteries in. But I take mine out because I don’t want my stuff to shift around, have it accidentally turn on, and then have to get my vibrating luggage off the conveyor belt and either a) open it and shut it off or b) awkwardly pretend I don’t notice until I get to a more discreet location. =P

I’m kind of a shy person though. Lol. @BothCoasts is much more bold than I am – that story cracked me up!

azbee:  passthepeas:  Lol, but it’s more likely she saw that spare lithium ion batteries must go in the carry on luggage and not the checked luggage.

BothCoasts:  When I was in high school and traveling with my parents, the security people went through my purse, which contained condoms. I was mortified, but thankfully the woman was quiet about it and my parents didn’t notice. Whew!

We took ours in our checked luggage on our honeymoon.. we went to Italy with stops in Germany and Turkey… no one said anything… I wouldn’t worry about it. I even had a notice from the TSA saying they went through my bag on the way back… oh well hope they enjoyed looking through everything LOL.

I brought a bunch of toys to Cancun with me back in 2014.  When you go through security you have to hit a button that either turns red or green.  If it turn red they mercilously go through your bag.  I hit the red button and my face turned about as red as the button and I felt like I was going to throw up.  I had some “interesting” stuff in there; I’m not sure if she even knew what half the things were but my boyfriend at the time was watching from behind the line and laughing his @ss off.  She didn’t say anything to me but it made for a good story after I got over the extreme embarrasment.

panda1016:  I’m pretty sure my face turned bright red, but what else could I do? (and is it wrong that even though she was wearing gloves, even in the height of my embarrassment, this little voice went off in the back of my head of “Man, now I’m gonna have to wash that.”)

serotonin:  See, that is one good security officer, right there! To know not to clue M&D on what their daughter has in carry on 😉

serotonin:  That too! All I remember is trying to get my tickets – “agree that you don’t have A, B, C, …., Z” and also going through security and making sure that you don’t bring “A, B,…G” in your Carry-on lugage. I don’t read all of it carefully because I just want to get on my plane and for it all to be over.

banana86: my luggage checked in a big airport, nor prob. My luggage was then checked again after international travel at a smaller airport. Suitcase was opened but not an eye batted. It was only secretely mortifying. Nobody really cares and you won’t be seeing any of these folks ever. again.
NBD. 🙂

Be sure to check the laws of the country you are going to. In some countries they are illegal.

They’ve seen it all before.

Me and Darling Husband flew on connecting flights for holiday and had a bottle of lube im our carry one not in the liquids back. The problem was we didn’t realise at all… Until DH’s bag was stopped and searched at London Heathrow on the way home! We were terrified of being in trouble. The border Man sae what it was, laughed and waved us through.

On the plus side, Its reassuring to know our airports are more secure than other destinations.

Checked bags are fine. We are all adults. Just own it. Yes, we’re married. Yes, we are going on a honeymoon. And yes, we intend to get friskyyyyyyy!

My checked luggage has been rifled through by TSA so many times I can only conclude that it’s a suspicious suitcase lol. But they don’t do it while you’re there unless you bring it in a carry-on bag which I do not recommend.

Checked luggage only. I’ve had my carry on bag opened and all items pulled out in front of everyone before, so you probably wouldn’t want to risk that.
