I’m looking for the ulimate shapewear for the big day. I need help. I like my shape, for the most part. I’ve gotten lazy, I’ll admit-but if I had to live as me RIGHT NOW for the rest of my life, I could stand it.
That being said, I have an odd pocket of fat that’s giving me an odd hourglass shape.
Now it’s really hard to describe, so I’m using paint to show my point. I’m not the best at paint-and it’s NOT this extreme, but it’s the best I can do drawing wise. It’s more of a little bump.
My issue is when I was at my smallest at 155, I had a flat tummy AND my hip bones still stuck out, but the bump wasn’t as noticeable as now at 175. 20 pounds will make everything more noticeable, but I’d like the help of shapewear so I can really feel comfortable no matter what size.
I’m in love with the trumpet/mermaid styles and they all look awsome on me EXCEPT for that small area that’s messing up the lines.
If it helps my measurements are 38/29/44. I’m 5 10 and 175 pounds (Gah! SO large @@) I wear a size 10 in pants, 8 in dresses. I carry my weight in my booty
This would be the shape I’m going for. Hourglass shape. No bumps (again, I suck at paint)
This is me…kind of. It’s not THAT bad, but it’s enough that It seems to show through weddings dresses with the mermaid fit. I see it when I’m naked, but clothes take care of it for me for the most part. Wedding dresses seem to e less forgiving.

Have you tried on any dresses yet? Or do you have your dress? I kind of have that a little bit so I know what you’re talking about. I only would ever see it naked or if I’m wearing a skin tight dress with thin material.
I bought a mermaid-type dress and honestly I couldn’t notice mine at all. The styles I really liked had some diaganol ruching going on…and really, they pretty much held me in and gave me shape. They also had corset backs, so that can help to suck you in.
But I don’t know very much about shapewear But I’ve seen a lot of people talk about Spanx being great…and I know they have hip/thigh shapers!
Edit: I’m somewhat similar in size to you, I’m a little over 5’11” I think I measured about 36/28/39, but I’m around 157. So I can see why you say you’re carrying it in your booty! It’s mostly my upper thighs that stick out though!

I don’t quite have advice – But I think the point of all shapewear is to smooth out whatever funny bumps you have.
I’d think something like this would do it

Don’t know what to tell you for shapewear, but I have a similar problem with my shape. It’s like I have two sets of hips!

@kes18: I’ve been to a few stores, and I feel like I can still see it. It might just be my head playing tricks on my…but I ran out and bought Zumba and joined MFP. I just want something to help me feel better, in case I fall off the wagon.

@risingsun: YES! and It’s annoying. I feel like God made my butt too low and they don’t match up. GAH!

@MissFireFlower: Well working out will give you more confidence no matter what! But if you haven’t bought your dress yet, I would try looking for some of those details if you like them. I think the ruching is pretty slimming! I never planned to by a mermaid style dress either because I tend to be self conscious about my stomach and hips.

@MissFireFlower: the slim cognito spanx has a bit of a butt lifter so it doesn’t flatten out the tush and lifts it a bit!
Not sure if you have a dillards in your area but you can go try it and see what you think…..but it did make my bum look better!

@weddingbound: It clips to your bra so it doesn’t fall?!? Brilliant!!! I’m going to try this!
