I didn’t realize there was still tiny slivers on glass on the floor after my cat knocked over a dish. So now. I am soaking my foot in hot water with salt trying to get a little shard of glass out of my foot. Does anyone have suggestions? I am kinda terrified to do anything involving needles. Sigh. What a Friday night!

If the shards are poking out of the skin, I’d remove them with some tweezers. However, if they’re under the skin, I’d go to the doctor. I know some people would just lance it out themselves, but the last time I did that I got an infection. =/

If they’re on the surface, a good pair of needle nose tweezers and some magnification to dig them out. A strip of duct or packing tape over the area and pulling it off can help, too.
If they’re subdermal, I would probably go have a doctor remove them. If the area was not painful, I’d likely try to extract it myself (Very sharp xacto blade & some tweezers), I’ve never had a “self surgery” go infectious on me, but I do tend to go crazy with the hydrogen peroxide and neosporin.

Thanks everyone for your tips! As it turned out, I was lucky. They were not deep in the skin, so soaking them in hot water with salt drew them out enough I could use tweezers. Phew.

Thanks again for your comments! I was lucky that they shards turned out to not be deep at all. The hot water drew them out, and I was able to then use tweezers. Crisis averted!
