I had a birdcage as well. I found a large, beautiful one at TJMaxx.  My mom painted it light ivory for me, and I decorated it with some gorgeous, light-ivory ribbon and silk peonies.

I DIY’d my box. It was a wooden box with letters on each panel. I removed the letters, painted the box copper, and then painted it white and ended it all with a crackle finish that allowed the copper to show through. Bought some silk flowers and feathers from Hobby Lobby and hot glued them to the top of the box. Then printed out black and white photos of me and Darling Husband, and modge-podged them to each panel. Turned out pretty good!

Hmm, think mine is too short.  Ran out of black velvet ribbon, but this is what it will look like later.

I am using a vintage Samsonite train case for my cardbox.. πŸ™‚ It’s not all finished yet… but I am having a beach/nautical destination wedding so I figured it’d be a cute idea. Guests are going to put their cards in there.. as well as fill out vintage postcards of the beach we are getting married out and put them inside πŸ™‚

I am in the process of making a banner that alternates navy/yellow flags (our colors) that has the letters that spell cards on each flag… the letters are cut out from old maps…I plan to try and hang it on there with some sort of rope to tie in the nautical theme πŸ™‚ The inside is yellow too. Really thought this was a cute idea that was done in many ways!

We took a decorative birdcage my mom had and didn’t really want, and repurposed it.

my Maid/Matron of Honor surprised me with a card box, which was put to good use at both the wedding, bridal shower, and is great home decor now!! She knew that I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a store bought card box that I will never use again (and I recently went to a friends’ wedding and her store bought card box did not fit many cards OR the larger envelopes!! Anyway, my Maid/Matron of Honor knew I was picky and found this.  The fabric on top matches one of my wedding colors. I HAD to share it because it came out amazing!!!
