Oooh forgot to include my favourite bit of the university, these arches are called the cloisters and the staircase from the ceremony room leads right out to it

And this is the staircase

We’re doing ceremony and reception in the same place. I can’t wait to see it done!

Only $150 an hr!

They have a reception hall as well but we may have the reception elsewhere. Haven’t decided!

  • Wedding: March 2017 - The Tall Ship Elissa, Galveston, TX

I <3 these threads so MUCH… I am continually amazed at how many amazing, *gorgeous* wedding venues there are out there, and how incredibally different they all are!! I wish I could attend a wedding at every one of them, just to experience them in person.

For us, we’re getting married on the tall ship Elissa, a real iron-hulled barque from 1877:

This is a pic from a different wedding onboard:

Our ceremony is going to be right at sunset, and then the reception will take place on the large brick pier between the Elissa and the Texas Seaport Museum she’s moored at, as well as in the museum itself:

We’re both ocean nuts and love living history, and this is just so US… And since it’s an historical site, the rental price is ridiculously cheap, even for a Saturday night. Plus the rental includes the ship and her below-deck exhibits, the pier, and the whole closed-to-the-public museum. We’re so excited!! Although my Fiance was a little miffed that they won’t let him zipline down from the mast to the altar in a pirate costume, lol. :-p

Here’s ours!  Laurel Hall: old mansion that was also used as a girls school, now an organization’s headquarters.

Wow, some really beautiful venues in this thread! We are getting married at an estate from the 1800s!
