husbands are in blue, mine are in purple. they are very US and we both have “you’re my favorite” engraved in our rings.

You’ve taken me to a point of happiness I didn’t know was possible in life. You mean everything to me. You’re both my best friend and soulmate and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.

Before we met I knew that there was something missing from my life that would make me whole. Soon after meeting I realized it was you. Today I am marrying my best friend, teammate, and soulmate.

I promise to always love you, support you, and take care of you.

I promise to never take for granted anything you do.

I promise to laugh and smile with you every day.

I promise to never sweat the small stuff and never take life too seriously.

I promise to give you the last piece of bacon every now and then.

I promise to always force you to try new things because I love how we experience the world together.

I promise to keep traveling the world with you- with some of those trips NOT involving baseball stadiums.

I promise that despite our competitive nature that we will always be playing for the same team.

I promise to never stop being silly with you, as I love the way we look at life together.

I promise that you can keep up your fantasy sports teams as long as your winnings go into our joint bank account.

I promise to always be the best person I can be, because you are the best person I know.

I promise to be there for you whenever you need a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or just a simple hug.

I love you now and forever sweetie.

You’re my favorite and always will be.

We did the tradition pledges (the “I do” part) then had our vows which we wrote ourselves. Here are mine:

I _____, take you, _____, to be my husband. I promise to be faithful to you always, in sickness and in health, in poverty or wealth, in my thoughts, in my words, and in my deeds. I will be your dearest friend, your lover, and the mother of your children.

I am humbled that you love me enough to share the rest of your life with me and I am honored to take your name as my own. I promise to respect and honor you as the head of our household and the father of our children.

I promise to be your ezer, your strong helper and partner in the kingdom of God. I will pray for you and encourage you in your walk with God. I will show you grace. I will rejoice when you rejoice and weep when you weep. Wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you make your home will be my home, too. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God. Every day I will choose to love you and remain faithful to you. I will strive to be a blessing to you.

From now on we will share our joys and sorrows, our struggles and hopes. We will trust God to meet our needs in every situation. Together we will live as joint heirs to His gift of life and bear the image of God’s love to the world.

I know these are lofty promises and that at times I will fail to live them out as I should. I ask for your grace and patience in those times as I look to God to transform me in His love and teach me how to love and serve you better.

I love you so much and I am excited to share the rest of my life with you. I know God has amazing plans for our future.

So joyfully today, with these vows, I commit myself to you.

Just posted our whole ceremony text over on the Secular board, but here are our vows:

I, BoulderGroom, choose you, BoulderBride, in the presence of our friends and families to be my wife. I promise, from this day forward, to turn to you and not on you in times of trial, to practice honest and thoughtful communication especially when it’s most difficult to do so and to challenge and inspire you to be all that I believe you can. I promise to love you in happiness and in sadness, to never take you for granted, to do my best to put your needs and the needs of our family before my own, and to trust that you are doing your best as well.  I promise to grow old with you in body, but never in spirit, to love you and care for you, to weigh the effects of the words I speak and the things that I do, and to always be thankful for your presence in my life.

I promise, from this day forward, to turn to you and not on you in times of trial, to practice honest and thoughtful communication especially when it’s most difficult to do so and to challenge and inspire you to be all that I believe you can.  I promise to be a comfort and safe haven in your life, to love you and care for you and to share with you all of life’s joys and sorrows, successes and disappointments. I promise to recognize that your interests, desires, and needs are as important as mine, to weigh the effects of the words I speak and the things that I do, and to always be thankful for your presence in my life.

Matthew/Cara, I cherish you for being all that you are, all that you are not, and all that you will become. I promise to nuture your dreams because through them your soul shines. I promise to help shoulder our challenges because through them we will emerge stronger. I promise to be your partner in all things, not possessing you, but working with you to support our life together.

We each wrote our own:

Jared says:  I Jared, take you Lorie, for my wife.  I take you for my best friend, my biggest supporter and the one person who truly gets me.  In the time that I have known you, you have shown me what it means to fully enjoy life.  I promise to try my best to help you also live such a life.  I truly love to make you happy and revel in your triumphs.  I hope that by being a part of your life, I can make you feel as loved as I feel by you.  I promise to be there at the end of every day to celebrate our life together next to you.  I will love and cherish you, my beautiful wife, always.

Lorie says:

I Lorie, take you Jared, as my husband.  I promise to love and cherish you, to support you in all your dreams, to encourage you through good times and bad, to stand by you in sickness and in health, to share all your victories and your hardships. I promise that my heart will always be your refuge and my arms will always be open to comfort you.  Although we began our journey before today, from this day forward we will be known as husband and wife and I promise that whatever life brings us, we will celebrate or endure together in love and faith in each other, and that you will always find my feet under the covers at the end of the day.

AND our ring exchange(the words were the same for both of us):

Lorie, you have been a gift to me from the day we met.

Today, I give you this ring

as a sign of our marriage.

With my body I honor you,

all that I am I give to you,

and all that I have I share with you.

With this ring, I thee wed.

These were ours!  I completely compiled our ceremony down to what the Pastor was supposed to say haha.

Declaration of Intent:

Minister to Groom: (bride was the same)

Do you Jared take this woman Mallory to be your wife according to God’s holy     law; do you promise to be to her a loving and loyal husband, to cherish and keep her  in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, to be faithful only to her until death you do part ?… I do

Vows:

Mallory, today I take you to be my wife.  Together we will create a home,        becoming part of one another.  I vow to help create a life that we can cherish as our love grows.  I vow to be honest, caring and truthful, to love you as you are and not as I want you to be, and to grow old by your side as your love and best friend.
