@MexiPino:  Yes, it makes me sad that there’s so many threads re: bridesmaids drama, wrong choice, etc.. 🙁

I feel incredibly fortunate for my Maid/Matron of Honor and 2 bridesmaids.  My Maid/Matron of Honor also happens to be my wedding coordinator and has been taking care of all the logistical details (big and small) since Day 1.  She actually volunteered for this role!  Naturally, I made her my Maid/Matron of Honor too because what she’s doing for me means a TON, especially given that she works 2 jobs and volunteers regularly for a number of organizations.  I am not a good event planner (although I’m organized.. something about events just stresses me out), so she’s been the one contacting vendors, confirming details, organizing appointments, keeping everyone on the right track, etc.  On top of all of this, she hosted my bridal shower at her place and is now hosting a surprise birthday party for my Fiance on Saturday.  She’s one of the busiest people I know, so her being available and willing to participate in not just my wedding things, but my other life things is something I’ll be eternally grateful for.

My 2 bridesmaids are equally awesome.  They actually came into the process very late – just 3 months ago – when we decided to expand the wedding party to include add 2 groomsmen and 2 bridesmaids.  The first one is always available to go with me to various places to buy things – we’re talking multiple trips to malls, Michael’s, Ikea, Pier 1… soo many places!  She also planned an incredible bridal shower (which she took care of all details – I only had to give her the list of invitees), is planning my bachelorette, and has an incredible eye for decor.  In fact, I concede to her opinion on reception decor because to be honest, I have no clue what would look good.

My other bridesmaid is a new mom working a full-time job, yet she’s used some of her vacation days to spend making DIY crafts with me and always makes an effort to come to appointments and events, even though it’s difficult for her to find a babysitter.  I can always rely on her to give me her honest feedback about everything, which I truly value, and she’s a logistical magician!  She thinks of details that I would’ve never considered and even with her busy home life, keeps in touch with me and lets me know that she is available to help with whatever I need.

So overall, my gals are awesome and I would be a total basketcase without them! 😀

My ‘maids have been really easygoing for the mostpart, which was been great. Apparently they’re planning my bachelorette and a bridal shower, though I wasn’t supposed to know that lol. My Maid/Matron of Honor is excited for her speech and has been working on it for months, and my bridesmaid who lives here throwing herself into everything as far as parties for me go. Probably lots of other stuff that I don’t know about, haha.

Maid/Matron of Honor was awesome. We found her dress in one shopping trip, she was kind enough to work with my Mom and throw me a lovely shower, she asked me what I wanted for a bachelorette and made it such a fun afternoon, and she was just a chill person to be around on my wedding day. It helps that I adore her to pieces, that we’re cut from the same cloth, and that she is my sister-in-law.

@MexiPino:  Thank you!  I try to be a good friend.. I think I’ve gotten a lot better at it as I get older.

@MexiPino:  I totally did. The day she married my brother, I finally got the sister I’d always dreamed of. We just get each other and I always knew she would be my Maid/Matron of Honor. She and my borther are marriage role models for us, and I just know that she’ll always be there to cheer us on, lift us up, and hold us accountable.

I had 6 bridesmaids, and while a couple of them would and will never be friends outside of my wedding events, they all put aside their differences on our wedding day and came together to make it so special.  I was pretty impressed! 🙂
