My whole wedding has been a deal because I have been negotiating and price researching before I buy anything. For example, my dress was $750, I found it online for $245 new. My DJ was going to be $800 and I got them for $695. My photographer was $1200, got them for $1000. I refused to pay full price for my wedding. I negotiated with everyone I came in contact with and price shopped.

My wedding was held at an upscale local restaurant. Right around the time we started planning, I was flipping through the newspaper and they had a 20% off coupon for the restaurant. It didn’t have any exclusion for catered events. When I booked the venue, I handed them the coupon and they honored it! So we got 20% off our food and alcohol!!

I needed double-sided frames for our table numbers… and I found some for .99 cents each at Ikea!!!  They are already white which is perfect with our wedding color palette.  Talk about a deal.

Linens!

I’m very proud of my black 120″ tablecloths from linentablecloth.com that I purchased for $8.95 each incl. shipping.  I was quoted $28/each from my caterer and $23/each from local rental companies…I do not mind a little ironing elbow grease if it means saving  $250-$300 on linens!

Also buying 200 chair covers from the same site and made a deal to give them to our venue afterwards in exchange for free beer and wine for the wedding.

I’m glad to find this thread because I had to seriously bite my tongue in another thread where someone talking about a ridiculously large dollar figure for their wedding. I can’t even wrap my head around those figures.

Anyway, my dress was a superb deal. It was discontinued which cut the cost in half, it was a rack sample which cut 25% off, and the shop was having a 20% off sale that weekend. All in all it was somwhere around the $350 mark.

Since we had our wedding the week after the golf course closed, we were able to get the 3 rooms in the gorgeous clubhouse that normally have a $15,000 minimum for a measley $5000 minimum!!!  And we wanted our wedding that weekend anyway since it was the same as our dating anniversary.  It worked out perfectly, and for the few who did know our budget they couldn’t believe we could afford such a beautiful venue.

Everything we’ve gotten has been a deal, compared to what the prices are in my area. My vintage dress was $199.00 (including shipping), the ceremony and reception rooms are a total of $1400.00 plus tax for 11 hours, the DJ is a friend and giving us full day ceremony and reception for $750.00, the videographer, another friend, is charging us $550.00 for the full day for two guys filming. We go into all our transactions looking for a way to talk down the price or readjust what is being offered to better reflect the price we want.

I’m definitely a bride on a budget! I got a lot of things on sale. I made a lot of my own decorations with supplies that I bought on boxing day sales. Here are some other deals:

Wedding dress – $375 (regular $975)

Longline bra & petticoat – $38 total for both (the store where I bought my dress was closing that’s why I got such good deals!)

Photographer – free (a professional photographer owed my Fiance a favour so this is how he’s paying him back!)

Purple Table Runners – $2.50 each

Our Venue – $400

Bird Cage – $15 (regular $40)

I just had a big band agree to do it for free, our food is $7/plate, we have a dixie land band playing for practically free, and we are getting married in a 100 year old theatre for free

Gee, this is aa hard one.

The venue for the actual ceremony is FREE because we are having it in a beautiful garden at the college where I teach. I got my Nataya wedding dress on eBay for $100, NWT, and my wedding bots for $20.

My best deal was actually for our honeymoon hotel. We’re going to Vegas and wanted to stay at the Cosmopolitan because their suites have balconies. We found a 4 nights for the price of 3 deal on Expedia for a huge suite with a wrap around balcony. Marriot has a price matching guarantee, and since they didn’t offer us the 4 for 3 deal, they matched the deal and gave us another 25% off. We’re paying $180/night for a huge suite at a 5 star hotel.

Hmmm probably my catering. It is still expensive but we are getting a lot of high end details for what we are paying. The best is the $1.50 chivari chair rental because the company owns them!
