So I sucked it up and got a brazillian wax today! My overall reaction is that it wasn’t that bad. I didn’t drink coffee in the morning since I read to avoid caffine beforehead and I took 400mgs of motrin so not sure how much that helped.
My waxer was great, she had me lay down on my back on a doctor like exam table and cross my legs butterfly style (or crisscross apple sauce) except for the butt strip where she had me hug my knees to my chest. She talked to me the whole time and told me what to expect throughout. It took about 30 minutes total but I do have thicker hair so it might take others with thinner hair less time. The only part that REALLY hurt was the lips. I jumped the first time she pulled a wax strip in that area because I think I was pretty relaxed from the rest of it not hurting much and wasn’t prepared.
There a few stray hairs because they weren’t quite long enough due to different growth cycles from shaving, which she told me would be the case before she even started. She said do not shave them off or shave at all if I want to continue waxing but I can pluck them out if they bother me. I booked my next wax for 4 weeks from today as recommended. They said it takes a few waxes for the hair to get regulated to the same growth cycle but once it does I should be able to go longer than 4 weeks. She put ingrown hair serum on the area when she was done and explained they have it for sale for $26 which lasts about 6 months. She said to use it everyday and twice a day if I do get ingrown hairs to make them go away. I went ahead and bought it since it’s supposed to last 6 months.
Overall I totally recommend it and if it gets easier over time I think after a few waxes it really will be a breeze! Even if every wax hurt as bad as this one I would still do it.
