  • Wedding: September 2013

  • Your wedding date – Sept 21, 2013
  • City you live in – Vancouver, BC
  • Ceremony venue – Holy Family Catholic Church
  • Officiant – Fr Daniel Geddes
  • Reception venue – Brock House
  • Brock House was awesome – super accomodating on the day and the food rocked!
  • Caterer – Brock House
  • Coordinator – Sweet Beginings – Nicole Miller
  • Ended up regretting getting a coordinator, went back on what she said she would do, missed a ton of details, and I was later told that she was pretty rude by several family members ๐Ÿ™
  • Photographer – Will Pursell
  • Seriously he is the best photographer in Vancouver – Book Him
  • Videographer – Spiro Creative
  • Adera and Ryan from Spiro were super sweet and great to be around, I liked my wedding video, but I don’t love it. We hired them on Groupon for a good price, so totally worth it for what it was, but I wouldn’t pay their full price of 3K.
  • DJ/Band – Kyle MacDonald – from Royal City Swing, he DJ’d and did a Swing Lesson, also helped us with our first dance – he totally rocked!
  • Florist – Creative Touch Florist – Jessica Edwards is utterly amazing – she majorly outstripped every big florist here in Vancouver. I would recommend her a hundred times over.
  • Cake – Sutton Place Hotel – Was awesome, but they did white icing instead of Ivory, so was somewhat diappointed.
  • Dress – Clara Coture (San Patrick) They also did my alterations and they rocked, seriously went over the top to make it fit perfect.
  • Shoes – Bhldn (Elopement Pumps) Brand was Hey Lady – So comfy!
  • Bridesmaid or Best Man Dress – Weddington Way (Watters) This was ordering online, but the dress was almost $200 less than buying here in Vancouver and we had no problems – super good service.
  • Hair Stylist – Mink Makeup – Mary Phan
  • I ended up not being too happy with Mink Makeup – First off their whole booking system is an ordeal, and you never talk to the same person twice. Other than that I just wasn’t overly impressed with their skills. They seemed unsure of themselves most of the time, my stylist didn’t seem to remember anything we discussed during the trial for my hair, and it turned out looking subpar and amature. I had 4 other people done as well, and all they did was very simple curls and wouldn’t go more complicated as they kept saying they didn’t have time. Although there was 2 girls for the 4 of them with 5 hours. It really wasn’t worth the money.
  • MUA – Miink Makeup – Mary Phan
  • Invitations – Me
  • Rings – Tiffany’s
  • Other vendors

FutureMrsvDavis:  Still very helpful! I’m definitely stalking this thread. I’m wondering how you’re making the groom’s band? Is there a place to do that here?

Giblets:  I’ve been contemplating teaching a class on this, I just don’t know how many people would be interested. I am, among other things, an amateur metalsmith. I’ll be making it out of pure silver, after testing steel and bronze and finding he was allergic (he has sensitive skin).

FutureMrsvDavis:  Don’t know of any classes in our area that do this, and it sounds like it would be a fun class! That’s really neat ๐Ÿ™‚
