I was curious to know what style/type of wedding gown you chose to wear to your destination wedding! For those of you that already got married what was your experience wearing the gown? Did the fact that you were getting married somewhere warm/hot change your mind on what gown to buy? Was your gown too hot to handle? Any regrets? Suggestions? Please share pics!!! Thanks ladies!

@1dutchie: This is mine! It was very light when I tried it on so we will see how it is next year in Cuba!!

Here is mine, but in ivory! I am expecting it to be hot (Dubrovnik, Croatia) but this was the dress, and I can’t imagine myself wearing anything else! The wedding is in an old church, cocktail hour at a small “palace” (don’t know how else to describe it), then hotel reception (outdoor terrace) so it actually suits the venues perfectly 🙂 I hope I won’t have any regrets!

Oh wow! I love the way Maggie Sottero’s hug the body! I actually have a Sottero & Midgley gown which is either part of their line or sister company. I am a bit nervous that it may be too hot and heavy but.. It’s only one day!
Wow beautiful! I can only imagine what the ivory will look like. Is this a Monique Lhuillier? It looks so soft and romantic.

thank you! It’s Vera Wang, and its surprisingly light so I’m hoping I won’t be too hot 🙂

I can’t believe I’m doing this… I got married on the beach in Jamaica in 2007. I’m now divorced (and with someone amazing, that whole story)… but I absolutely loved my dress at the time, it was light and casual and I wish I could wear it over and over again. I sold it about two months ago finally.

I knew I wanted something simple, light and flowy. I wanted to be comfortable on my wedding day. I loved my dress and felt like I was floating in it the entire day and night!

My apologies, I’m posting my gown a lot lately to answer questions!
We got married in a different country where summers peak at about 75 degrees F. I was a little worried about being cold honestly! However, the gown was a perfect weight, the temperature was just right – I was never sweaty or chilly. We drove to our destination. My gown was folded accordian-style (bag and all) in a cardboard box. Luckily it’s not the type of gown that needs steaming.
Because it was a wedding of 5 people (us, officiant, 2 witnesses), I wondered if it was ‘too much’ but I’m glad I went with the gown in the end!

We had a destination wedding in Asheville, NC. There were about 70 guests. My dress was a tafetta A-line and worked well for the outdoor ceremony. I wasn’t too hot or too cold.

We got married in the West Palm Beach area. I had no problems with my dress in the sand or anything. I didn’t even bustle the train. You can’t see much of the dress but I son’t have my pro pics back yet.
