I tried on one dress.  I was visiting my parents after getting engaged and things weren’t going well with my mom.  We were out shopping one day and she had kept ‘hinting’ that she wanted to look at dresses.  We walked into a DB just as they closed and started looking.  I saw a dress that I liked on the rack and the store manager convinced me to try it on.  I cried my eyes out, seriously how could I ever wear something that beautiful.

When I came back home I kept thinking about that dress, worried that something would happen to my dress.  When it went on sale at DB my parent’s bought it as a gift for me.  It came in weeks early so now I guard my dress that hangs in my bedroom.  I still can’t believe that I’m going to wear something that georgous.

@Jas00:  Oooh I love your final choice!

I wish I had been allowed to photograph more of the dresses I tried on, but that’s pretty much 100% frowned upon here, until you’ve purchased πŸ™  That said, once the deposit had been paid, my consultant was more than happy for me to come back and play dress up again for some piccies! haha.

Sample… wayyyyy too long/out of proportion for me/belt will be same colour as the dress (that’s how tatty the sample gets!)/there wont’ be weird bunching.

Drawing of my dress with the alterations we’re making (I CHERISH this!)

Measurements were done in September and on Tuesday I had my “toile” fitting (the dress will be made to measure).  As you can see here, they’re changing the neckline to sweetheart.  I’ve only just realised but the sweetheart neckline is pretty pronounced, much more so than we were looking at initially.  I asked for it… now I’m not so sure about it though? Kinda too late now probably! haha Undecided

And these are my shoes πŸ™‚

I haven’t really got past this when it comes to accessorizing.  I love the veil with this dress but I’m worried it won’t be practical.  When my Maid/Matron of Honor comes over in November I’m taking her & my other bridesmaid back to the boutique to play with jewellery and such things πŸ˜›

The first dress I chose (unfortunately it was above budget)

A dress I considered but the alterations would have been crazy

This was the runner up to my dress. I did have “that feeling” but then I tried on my dress

This was my dress. I love everything about it. Not to mention it was 60% off and the only alterations I needed was the length and getting the bustle done.

@Jas00:  I think I’ve tried around 20+ dresses over the course of my dress shopping. I live in Toronto, Canada, so you’d think I’d find THE dress in one of the many stores in this huge city. I had been browsing online for 6 months, wrote down a laundry list of the ones I wanted to try, and was given suggestions by many consultants. I found 2 that I thought I loved, but there was always that little detail that just wasn’t quite perfect.

Today I took the bus after THE worst work day I’ve had in a while, 2 hours away, to visit a tiny boutique that was hosting a Stella York trunk show, the only one in Canada for a while it seems. Again, I had a list of dresses they had that I wanted to try, not just from Stella but some Maggie Sotteros too. The first dress I put on was the one I had really come to see, and I did NOT want to take it off! I didn’t even want to try anything else on, but my friend made me do it just so she could see if anything else looked better since she had only seen that one dress out of the 20+ I tried before. Nothing beat it. I will be returning to the salon with my mom and sisters in law this weekend! I can’t wait!

@emmyb84: Thanks… I designed them myself!  http://www.shoesofprey.com >> addictive site & EPIC people to deal with.  Truly amazing customer service.  The first ones they sent out were too big but they have a free remake policy and allow design changes too for the second go around so I got them to drop the wedge even more (me + heels don’t mix).

@lovelyhulagirl33:  Yay!!!! Love stories like that πŸ™‚ Sometimes it’s just meant to be πŸ™‚

@emmyb84:  I know, right?  Low heels or wedges are hard to find!  You can have so much fun playing with their shoe designer.  And also, if you’re considering something but want to see what it will look like on a real shoe, just email them and they send you photos of other shoes they have!  Very helpful.  I know sharontobemarried got her 1.5 inch kitten heels from them too and loved them.

@renwoman:  Thanks!  I love it too πŸ™‚ Teehee.
