So we’re eloping and I want to send out announcement. I just want to say hey we’re married and here’s where we live now (Immoving in with him). I really like the idea of using a photo from the day of (we will have a photag) but I’m not sure how long it would take to get the photos. I thought about getting one shot with a cell phone or regular camera but I’m not sure the resolution would be high enough to use on a card. Do you think it would be bad to wait (I’m guessing at least a few weeks) to send announcements?
More importantly where did you order yours from? And how did you word them?
please share thanks

Etiquettely speaking – annoucements are printed mailings of text only that go out the day of or day after your wedding. The goal of this was to get the word out first yourself, so that no one hears it through the grapevine.
I personally think a non-photo annoucement is worthless!!! I’d want to see pics!
I did pseudo-annoucements. I waited until we got pro-pics. By that time were were closer to Christmas, so I just used a wedding photo for my holiday card and sent it out that way. I didn’t say anything about the wedding, just a big happy holidays on the front, with our family name at the bottom. I think people figured it out, and if they wanted to know more about where, etc, then they could call me.
I had cousins (not on Facebook) that still didn’t know about it even 4 months later until I sent the holiday card!
I used Vistaprint.com. 50 flat cards for $15. They turned out great.

We never did send any out. Just lost track of time and by the time I thought about it, it seemed way too late.
But we did post pictures on FB, email and text to family and friends.

I have the same question, since pro pics might take a few weeks and people will know about it sooner; FB and word of mouth.
I am considering getting names/addresses, writing envelopes then using our camera to take a couple of pics, editing on PS ourselves a bit and sending those out ASAP.

@aliciapdx: dont photographers usually send you a teaser ortwo like the day after you could use? or you could ask them to!

We got a teaser but a week later. It had a big logo on it and it was low res, not good enough for printing.

@wrkbrk: I wonder if we could ask/pay to have maybe like 5 pics or so within a week and they can take the time w/ the rest,

Not sure if it’s too late now, but I’ll share. We are doing non-photo announcements. We are not telling anyone what we’re doing ahead of time, and I don’t want people to find out from Facebook. So impersonal.
We are doing a destination elopement, and I have the announcements all designed and printed, and my mom is going to mail them out the day before we return so that people get them the day we get home. Then I will update Facebook the next day and post some photos, if we have any yet. I don’t want to wait even one extra day to be able to talk about it, so those announcements will definitely have no time to include a photo!
