I’ve been going to the gym for 7 years and I’ve never embarrassed or injured myself there…until last night.
I had just got in and decided to go for a run on the treadmill. I had my eye on a particular one near the window and got on it. What happened next is a blur but basically someone had left the treadmill on! It threw me in the air and I landed on my right knee and shin. Rather than just flying straight off I had what felt like a long struggle where I was half on it, half off (it was probably only a few seconds in reality) and I remember actually thinking I was never going to get off it. I still can’t believe I didn’t see that it was moving but it just wasn’t that obvious and isn’t something I expect to happen!
I remember screaming slightly when I first got on it and I landed on it with a bang so people around definitely noticed. No-one really did anything though, except a guy near me asked if I was ok. I was so mortified and once I’d picked myself up I decided to leave straight away. I could feel my leg was stinging and aching but the worst feeling was the embarrassment!! Luckilly there were only a few people in the gym at that point and I didn’t recognise any of them.
I reported it to a manager who filled out an accident form and was very apologetic. My leg is pretty swollen and bruised and I have a bad graze on my knee. I have been able to laugh about it but also feel quite fed up and stupid. I’ve decided to go back to the gym tonight (won’t be doing cardio though) just to get it over with and Friday is the quietest night so it’s probably the best time to go back. I know I’ll be so paranoid and feel like everyone is laughing at me : (
So Bees, to make me feel better please share your embarrassing moments so I know I’m not the only one who has felt like this!!

i cant actually think of any but one at the moment
about 3 years ago me and my friend decided to have a night out first time in about 2 years so both really excited we dressed up in our heels and dresses and being the middle of winter it was slushy snow and cold! went to one bar and it was dead so decided to move on to one of the newer bars which was full of people now im not very good at walking in heels anyway but we walked into the bar and it had a lovely wooden floor before i knew it because my shoes where wet i went flying landing on my bum with my legs in the air infront of everyone!! my friend was already at the bar so i was left in the middle of the floor dress around my hips and alot of tables looking at me so picked myself up walked to the bar and drank a very strong drink with my back to veryone while i died of shame lol
worst part was when i was going down my feet did this little dance thing while i was trying to keep my balance was like a russian dance except my arms where flapping everywhere ahh still makes me cringe to this day ive only been back in that bar once and i insisted on wearing flats

@jpbee: I have had a few, but I can’t remember what the situation was at this moment. Anyway, you’re definitely not alone. And you’re getting married on my b-day, so yay!

@happymummy: Oh gosh that sounds awful! I did once fall over in a bar but it was later on and it was so so busy like people in every inch of the room (more like a club) so only the few people right near me actualy saw it happen, and everyone around was quite drunk and unaware by then!
Thanks for sharing : )

@jpbee: I remembered one slightly embarrassing moment (besides the whole childbirth, 10 strangers looking at your v-jay)
After I had my first child my wacko Aunt comes in the delivery room and proceeded to inspect my “bush” (as she put it) because she’d never seen one right after a baby came out before.
Tada. Ugh!

@happymummy: And I was only 19. I think I had only been to a gynocologost once before I got pregnant. I was too tired to object, but HELLO Aunt Betsy, go away! It was also lovely of the hospital staff to leave me “hanging out” there (literally) for over an hour.

Let’s see…
Last year, I got my bike locked in the parking lot of one of the schools I worked at and one of the PTA dads had to hop the fence and find it for me in the dark and rain because I was wearing a skirt.
Then there was that time two years ago that I got sick (at the same school) and two of my coworkers had to help me go to the doctor because I didn’t speak enough Japanese to fill out the forms.
And that time a kid hit me after a difficult class and I cried when I was telling a coworker about it. At the same school.
And my very first day at a different school. I crashed my bike right outside the school in front of two students, and my first impression to the other teachers was “Hi, I’m the new English teacher. And also I’m bleeding.”

@happymummy: Haha! For a moment I did think to myself “Why do I even bother going to the gym?!” which was a crazy moment for me as I’ve been going regularly for years and am a fitness freak!!
I think the worst part is that I can’t just think “oh well I never have to go back there and I’ll never see those people again” because I will be going back and I most likely will see those people again! Luckilly I honestly don’t remember anyones face, even the guy who asked if I was ok, so when I do go back I wont be cringing when I see certain people!

@Jabberwocky: Yikes thats a lot of embarrassing moments in one place! You really do feel like disapearing! It sounds terrible but at the time I half wished I had just been knocked out cold then I wouldn’t have felt the embarrassment and people may have been more concerned rather than finding it funny! I now realise that was ridiculous and I’m glad I didn’t get hurt more than I did!
