The produce isle is your best friend! I buy all my produce at the begining of the week and chop it up according to how I’ll use it. Bell peppers cut into strips are great for dipping in red pepper or garlic hummus (yum!) Strawberries cut into thin slices are great on a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter. Here are some of my recent indulgences:

Pita crackers 45 calories, Colby jack Snack Cheese 80 calories, Total: 125 Calories

Chopped Fruit (Apples, Bananas, Red Grapes, Manderin Orange, Strawberry) with Granola and Vanilla Almond Milk- I ate this as a MEAL, not as a SNACK, but a smaller portion could easily be an amazing snack. This was 387  Calories.

And may I add: The perfect cure for a sweet tooth: 8 oz of Vanilla Almond Milk…OMG…it’s sweet, creamy, satisfying, and filling!

4 oz of Plain Greek Yogurt (Chobani sells it in a tub) with 2 tbsp of honey- sweet protein! 130 calories!

1 oz of mixed nuts (healthy fats and proteins = filling) 170 calories

1 square of 90% dark chocolate: 60 calories (I HATED IT…just not my cup of tea. Waaaay too bitter. But some people swear by it).

Pita crackers with hummus: 105 calories

(I just realized how often I take pictures of my food!)

Another favorite that I don’t have a picture of: light microwave popcorn. You can polish off an entire full size bag for a little over 200 cals, depending on the brand you buy. It’s a great guilt-free, mindless snack with that satisfying CRUNCH.

Happy snacking!

PS- If you can get your hands on some mozzarella wisconsin string cheese by Crystal Farms- DO IT. I get mine at the super walmart. It is the CREAMIEST, Softest, most flavorful string cheese I’ve ever bought. My husband is addicted! And it’s only 70 calories.

My favorites are strawberry Greek yogurt, frozen grapes, and cucumber & cream cheese crackers 🙂

Now I want to go get some yogurt and honey though…

@iadornyou:  I felt like all the pics may have been a bit obnoxious but I’m really enjoying taking pictures of my food now so that when I’m so hungry I can’t think straight I can remind myself that healthy really is appetizing.

Some of mine are:

  • Greek yogurt and granola
  • 100-Calorie Simply Guacamole packs and baked tostidos
  • Peanut butter and jelly on plain rice cakes (although I also eat this for lunch as an alternative to regular PB&Js)
  • Dole pear/apple fruit cups in light juice or water. I know that it’s not as healthy as fresh fruit, but it’s yummy and only 30 calores (and not as much sugar as you’d think!)

I like this thread! Great ideas :)))

I like to make a big batch of homemade granola with some choc chips in it and portion it out into baggies.  I try tp keep one in my purse for random snack attacks while i’m running errands.  Also, kumquats are awesome if you’ve never had them before!  They’re like tiny oranges that you pop into your mouth whole.  You can find them near the berries and are in season in the winter/spring months (i think? that’s usually when I can find them).  Also, homemade trail mix, 1/4 cup per serving: almonds, sunflower and flax seeds, raisins, cashews,  whatever nuts/seeds you like.  Tides you over till dinner.  🙂
