Its not obscure by any means but my biggest and best beauty secret is touche eclat by YSL.

I could get 4 hours of sleep and look like I slept for 12. Its a miracle.

For all of the ladies using oil, especially for eye cream, where do you get it and what is the price?  I would love to use some of this natural stuff instead of the commercially available products with tons of “other” stuff in it.

My beauty secrets: Exfoliation and lotion are key!  Scrub with coffee grounds in it helps cut down on the appearance of cellulite.  From a fellow bee, sugar and vaseline makes a great lip scrub too.  Also, if you want less coverage but don’t want to go totally bare on your face, mix some of your face lotion with your foundation.  It creates a kind of tinted moisterizer.

And of course, drink LOTS of water.  It also helps with cellulite and reduces fine lines on your face.

bellenola:  YouTube, actually! I follow a lot of hair/beauty vlogs and one promoted it, so I started doing a ton of research online and eventually tried it myself.  🙂

I’ve just started oil pulling, I use organic, unrefined coconut oil. I do it for about 20 minutes in the morning while I’m getting ready. I’ve read that it helps with gum sensitivity, whitens teeth, etc. I’m only on day two, so haven’t really noticed results yet.  I also use coconut oil for a moisturzer, hair mask, and for cooking!

I also dring a ton of water. I carry a nalgene around with me at work and try to get down at least 2 bottles a day. In the mornings, I take a probiotic with water and I take it in the evening too. I’ve notice that taking a probiotic helps immensely with bloating!

Also, I eat mostly fresh fruits and vegetables and definitely notice that my skin looks great, and my hair is super shiny and soft.

Taking zinc is the best thing I’ve ever done for my skin.

Following closely is applying evening primrose oil on my face after washing.

In third place, I more or less stopped exfoliating my skin. Everyone screams “exfoliate, exfoliate!” but when I do, I get crazy break outs. Once in a blue moon I’ll wipe my face dry with a towel instead of patting it, but that’s it.

Invest in some great, dried oolong tea! Steep it 3-5 times. Keep leftover leaves in water a few hours. Use the tea-water to rinse your face as often as you’d like. Discard after a day and make more. Once a month press the steeped leaves and use them as a face mask.

turnanewleaf:  can you expand a little more on the zinc? I have horribly horrible skin due to eczema (which is triggered by stress..got it 3 years ago when my sister got married and right after my Fiance was laid off), and I’m wondering if this could be useful for me too.

Thanks so much!

I use almond oil as make up remover/moisturizer every night. My face is always soft and I have no blemishes as long as I keep it up!

mrs-to-be-2014:  I wrote a post about it here: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/i-cured-my-acne-with-10/#axzz2wGFiSYAp

I don’t know how well it would help your eczema, but a quick google search came up with “People with eczema appear to be deficient in essential fatty acids or to produce less of a zinc-dependent enzyme involved in essential fatty acid metabolism.” so maybe it would be beneficial? RE: the potential EFA deficiency, I would also look into taking/applying evening primrose oil.

I’m currently taking about 1 zinc citrate pill per day, bump it up to 2 before my period because PMS usually makes my skin suuuuper oily and zinc definitely helps control not only the oil, but even how much I sweat AND how stinky the sweat gets.

I know that zinc oxide (diaper rash cream) can help relieve eczema, but I also have put it on my face overnight and it helps heal the acne scars much more quickly. It’s a PITA to remove though.

Do know that you can overdose on zinc so look into the symptoms of that and/or see if you can find a zinc:copper combination.

Not as interesting as others but I add a bit of highlighter to my foundation for a nice subtle glow, & I ran out of liquid eyeliner and forgot to get more so I just mix a bit of (black) eyeshadow with eyeshadow primer & apply with a thin brush.

I tried no-poo-ing, but my hair never felt clean, and it got kind of clumpy and weird. I started shampooing just once a week with a sulfate-free shampoo and a deep conditioner, and my hair has never felt better.  I also use coconut oil on the ends as a leave in conditioner most days.

I use colloidial silver gel to battle acne. In the last few years, I’ve had the worst acne of my life (yeah, at 30… Go fig).  The silver gel is the only thing I could find that even puts a dent in it. A little bit, twice a day, and it seems to bring everything to a head sooner so I can pop them at be rid of them.  It’s supposed to be a natural antibiotic.  I don’t particularly care how it works; it’s not super expensive and it gets rid of my zits.
