I honestly should have expected something. He had been setting it up for a while. He had been saying he wanted to do more well driving out for food shopping (Costco is about an hour away). He had told me he had gotten tickets to a musical, so we’d see it and then go shopping before going back home. I accepted that was the plan.

We had been looking at rings, but we had been looking on second hand sites, so we were even looking the night before the play. Little did I know, it was all a ruse.

We woke up and decided to walk around the lake. As we were driving to the lake, it started drizzling. He asked if I still wanted to walk and luckily I did. We walked pretty far and it started to rain a bit harder. I told him we should turn around and he said okay and got on one knee. I’m pretty sure the first words out of my mouth were “Are you serious?”

He had told me he had gotten a room at an adorable victorian bed & breakfast in nearby city. We saw the play, checked in, got soaked walking to a lovely restaurant. Had ice cream and relaxed.

We didn’t tell anyone until after we got back.

This was the picture from the car ride back to our house, before packing for my surprise getaway.

He asked on our anniversary and hid the ring amongst other gifts he bought me so that I would ‘unexpectedly’ come across the ring as I was going through my gifts from him.

He took me down to where he used to fish as a kid and this was waiting for me with our friend who took a video and pictures of the whole thing 🥰

We went to the islands I grew up on for a day trip and he proposed on the beach where there is a ton of drift wood. It was perfect ❤️

I really appreciate my husbands mindset because it was unique and different. However I really wish someone would have told him to do something else (he consulted multiple of our friends and they thought it was a cool/ good idea). His reasoning was if I said yes when I was really mad at him, then I must really love him. And he wanted to go venue shopping officially engaged

We were going to Mexico on vacation to scout out wedding venues, so I was expecting the proposal to be while we were down there. The day before we left, I had a long day of school finals and had gone all day without eating. We planned a celebratory dinner finishing my semester/venue shopping with another couple because she was friend with the General manager at Fogo de Ciao.

Well I get home and get dressed for this pretty fancy dinner, and my husband suggests we take a picture outside since we look nice. So our roommate took us out in front of our porch. He counted to 3, and then all of a sudden I had buckets of water dumped on my head. Then my husband got down on one knee and proposed.

I was in such shock that I have no clue what he actually said. He had our best friends on our roof with buckets of water. I said yes, but was upset that we needed to go to dinner. Turned out the reservation was actually made for later so I could get ready again. But we ended up getting our whole meals comped and free dessert, which we were not expecting (thought he would only discount our friends meal if anything, but definitely not everything at this super fancy place lol)

Not my favorite. I resented having to tell everyone for awhile, because everyone wants to know how you get engaged. But nonetheless, I got my husband, my pretty ring, and we got to go to Mexico as fiance and fiance looking for venues instead of just BF/GF. All the women I told were appalled and like “oh you gotta get him back. We’ll help you plan something good!” Lol

We were here on holiday in Wales, I’d taken him away for a Few days as an early birthday present so as his was his present I definitely wasn’t expecting anything. Anyway while visiting the castle we went to one of the high towers, I was taking a picture of the view, which is the top picture I posted here, and when I turned around he was down on one knee. I’m fairly certain my response was “are you shitting me?” Then I said yes. It was just the two of us, it was lovely. It never occurred to me to take any pictures while we were up there hence I’m sharing the pic just before the proposal and a random one of my ring.

It happened when we were hiking, at the place he first felt he fell in love with me. 🙂 We forgot to take a proper pic but that’s the only one I have.

Fun thread! This was months and months ago now, but I’ll still share 🙂

My fiancé set up a big scavenger hunt around our house for me. I knew a proposal was coming, but I had no clue how he’d do it! He hid clues all around, each one leading to something that related to one of us, or our relationship. It was cute and very fun (especially since I love puzzles/escape rooms!)

The whole scavenger hunt led to a lockbox. When I opened it, I of course expected to find my ring, but instead found a bunch of boxes of mini mystery figurines (which I collect). I was confused and admittedly disappointed/irritated thinking it was all a big trick 😂

He then came out of his hiding place, and laughed and assured me that there was nothing more to find. I was still very annoyed (but amused as well — he loves playing tricks on me, so it was very much his style haha. I figured it was a big red herring and the real proposal would come in a few days or something) and I decided to go ahead and open the boxes of figurines anyway…

Only to find that he had opened one of the boxes, put the ring box inside, and glued it back shut so I wouldn’t know it! What a brat! 😛

Here is a pic of the first clue:

Here is the lockbox with its contents:

I’ve taken much better pictures of it since, but here are the first pictures I ever took of my ring on my finger:

It was a crazy day of me thinking it might happen.. then feeling like it DEFINITELY was not happening. But in the end I walked into a beautiful beach front room with rose petals and candles everywhere. Took me by surprise and I am so excited!

We had spent the entire day moving into our townhouse (our first place together!) and it was a whirwind.  We still had a lot to do so we took a break around 10pm to go get a Starbucks. When we got home he reminded me that his parents had given us some champagne to toast our new home.  I didn’t really feel like drinking but he convinced me that the occasion warranted some bubbly.  We poured some champage into two small mason jars and he said he wanted to give a toast, and he proposed right there and then!  It was a complete surprise and looking back it’s a complete blur.  My ring is from a Canadian jeweler that my grandfather worked for as a silversmith before he fought in the war and the personal touch makes me love it that much more.  This was the first photo I took of it:

Mine happened whilst on holiday in Australia at the beginning of December. We’d gone for a walk along the beach one morning, and he’d taken me up to a lookout point along the beach. I’d known it was coming, as we’d been to look at rings the month before we went, and we’d been talking about it for a while. But he’d told me it would be sometime this year, and that he wouldn’t be doing it whilst away! I was surprised when he it did, and couldn’t think of anywhere more special for it to have happened.  I also don’t remember a word he said, as I was so excited!
