I just got engaged yesterday! He surprised me because I thought he was going to propose when we go to Disney World in a few days, but he did it before we left! He told me he had to work (at a country club restaurant) tonight, but that his parents and I were going to dinner so I could still see him for a bit. When we got there, the back room was empty and there was a big table with candles, roses, and rose petals on the table. Both of my parents were already in the room videoing the whole thing!
He gave an adorable speech that I can’t seem to remember because I was so emtional! All I remember is him getting down on one knee and asking to marry him! Afterwards, he had pre-planned a 3 course meal of my favorite foods for his parents, my parents, and him and I to eat. It was incredible!!

I got engaged a week ago! Every weekend during the summer months we go hiking at a state park that is about 15 minutes from our house and there is a waterfall that we frequently visit within the park. He asked me if I wanted to go for a hike because we had a strangely nice day even though it was January and when we got to the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall he told me he wanted to take a picture. Since I was wearing the backpack, I turned around and he dug around in the backpack to get “his phone” but when I spun back around he had the ring open and out and asked if I would marry him. He was so nervous, he forgot to get down on one knee but it was still special. I was so glad he asked in a more private setting that was special to us.

brittnamrogo : Wow, I’d like to hear your parents’ whole story! lol
My Fiance had been talking for a few weeks about being excited for dinner reservations and checking out the downtown area of a nearby town. This wasn’t out of the ordinary, and I was looking forward to a nice night out together. That day, we set out with what I thought was 2 bottles of wine (I didn’t know, but one was champagne that I had bought when we bought our first house. It was the same champagne we had on a particularly memorable anniversary.) Fiance started driving, and asked if I wouldn’t mind visiting some family on the way. I said, sure, why not.
We parked outside of a relative’s house, where he used to live next door when he was in high school. When we got out the car, he said, “Hey, you know, I haven’t been to that park in a while. Want to go check it out?” 7 years ago, when we were 18 and 19, we had walked to a park in the woods at midnight in the summer. The fireflies were really beautiful, like christmas lights in the trees, and that was when and where he asked me out back then. So this time, we walked to the park, on a cool, wet fall afternoon after the rain. Everything was really beautiful, yellow and green, and we sat on the bench in the woods. We reminisced about a lot, including that day he asked me out, and he was just smiling a lot. Then, he said, “You know, I was a lot more nervous back then than I am now.” He got on one knee and asked me to marry him, and apparently I started crying immediately. Darn being a happy crier!
Apparently his original plan was to propose 2 weeks earlier, at the beach. I’m glad that didn’t work out 🙂
