So i know there have been other threads similar to this, but I wanted to update it… it’s happened more than once that I hear people on “Say Yes to the Dress” mention something along the lines that it is very difficult to get a “wow” dress for just a couple thousand dollars.
There were a few shops that I went to that made me feel like the only thing that you can buy for under $3,000 are very plain dresses or samples (not that there’s anything wrong with simple dresses or samples). But the point is that throughout my dress shopping I found plenty of dresses that were less than HALF that price and were beautiful!
So who out there has a dress that cost less than $1,500 (pre-alterations)? I’ve seen many brides with gorgeous, inexpensive, good quality dresses on here and I wish I had found a thread like this when I was looking for a dress with a budget. So let’s help all of those brides out! Add any info you think would be helpful to them!
(PS- Of course there are also many amazing, incredibly-constructed dresses that cost more than this and this is in no way intended to put those down. Many times you do get what you paid for. Just trying to show that it IS possible to find a nice dress on a budget!)
I’ll start with mine. price: $1350, designer: Blue by Enzoani (they have great dresses that aren’t ridiculously expensive!), bought: in CA.

I know that this may not be considered one of those spectacular “wow” dresses, but I still feel like I got more for the price than others lead you to believe is possible.

@Swoontobee Mrs.G:
I was super lucky, only tried on 4 dresses and dress #1 was the Winner!!! I had to have a lot of alterations though because it was a whole size too small 🙁 But hopefully I have a final fitting this week to see its progress… close up/boob shot too! haha
Sadly, I have no idea who designed it, I got it at a little local bridal boutique. But, it was on sale for $550 and then Alterations ran up to $410 so total for my gown=$960.00

@hamachi: Aww you are so sweet! I’ve seen so many other dresses on here that are just so incredible and extravagant, plus friends and family seemed to think that this was a fairly “understated” dress :(, but I am still very happy with my choice. Thanks for the kind words! Really, thanks!
@LilLadybug:love the bling and the shape of the dress is very flattering! So elegant and a great find!

Many of Maggie Sottero/Sottero Midgley dresses are less than $1300. I could have had the Adorae for $1150 and or the Kendra for $880 (it was soooo hard for me to walk away from this offer).
The dress I ultimately bought was originially priced at $1898 but I got 30% off and it came in at under $1350. =) I don’t have a picture of me in it but here is the model!

My dress was …… 450 dollars (300 euro). It’s a new dress but from a collection of I believe 2009. I don’t care it’s ‘the dress’ for me. The first one I tried on, and didn’t need to try another. I went to the store with that picture in my mind (I saw it on the website), tried it on and left within half an hour the shop, with the dress. No alterations needed, it was if that dress was waiting for me… it fitted like a glove. Can’t wait to finaly ‘show the world’ on august 27th 2011:

This could also be ‘the dress’ for me. One of the most beautifull dresses I’ve ever seen. So elegant.

The bridal shop I tried this on at would have charged me $1200 for my dress. You can get it wholesale online from a place like bestbridalprices for around $800. I scored a sample in the wb classifieds for $150 including shipping!!! Yay!
