I know (after a quick search to see if this thread existed) that I am not the only one who has had all kinds of dreams about the wedding once I was engaged.
Share your wedding dreams and nightmares! I bet a lot of ours are the same.
Last night was my first bad one. Normally I’m just planning or getting married. Those are actually pleasant.
In my dreams last night:
Our venue was wrong. The roof was leaking. It was raining so we had to take pictures inside in the manager’s office where it might as well have been outside. My bridesmaids were wearing identical HIDEOUS dresses in the wrong color. They looked like stepford wives. Other girls came into the manager’s office to take pictures with us and no one was willing to say anything. One of our photographers (it’s a husband/wife team) turned out to be deaf and mute and didn’t know sign. Our DJ played awesome music but only 30 second snippets before long periods of silence.
And worst of all? Against my wishes, my father hired a clown to do balloon artists.
Surprisingly though, I just went through and was emotionally detached. I found my new husband, giggled with him that we did it, called him Mr. Whomajigi and he called me Mrs. Whomajigi and we danced in 30 second intervals.
I don’t try to look for meaning in my dreams, especially silly ones like this. But I take solice in the fact that even when everything went to complete isht, I didn’t mind because I married my favorite person in the world.
So! Your turn! 🙂

I had my first bad wedding dream the night before last! Basically my mom forgot to send invitations to the people she wanted to invite- all 140 of them- so nobody was showing up, then suddenly a bazillion 6th graders started marching through my venue since they turned my reception area into an auditorium for a 6th grade presentation…and of course I had no makeup artist/hair person there so my mom was racing to put me together 🙁
BTW- your dream is hilarious- love all the crazy little details of it you remembered!!

@serenitea: Bwahaha! Obviously (I hope) we realize these dreams are just subconscious fears so it is safe to laugh. With that said..HAH, awesome. I know eventually I’ll have the invitation nightmare eventually but the 6th grade thing? Hilarious. Very random.

As the wedding progressed, my dress changed at least 10 times! From gorgeous ballgown to delicate lace to mermaid style with a pouffy skirt… And every time my dress changed, my husband-to-be’s outfit changed too!
So instead of one dress I had 10!!!! Whoohoo!

My dreams haven’t been too bad… yet. But oddly enough one of my bridesmaids had a dream about my wedding it went like this:
The Bridesmaid or Best Man dress came in and were the wrong ones/color/style
My save the dates went out with the wrong date on them
My invitations had my name spelled wrong
At the ceremony my Fiance called me mommy.
When we got to the reception hall, it was trashed from a party the night before!
Glad I didn’t have that dream… I would have cried.

my nightmares all have to do with time. I’ll look at the clock and it’ll be 11:06 pm and we haven’t started dancing yet.

I had my first dream (well, nightmare) about the wedding last night. I was rushing around trying to get stuff ready on the day of our wedding, and I realized that we didn’t buy our wedding rings yet. So I got into my Dad’s truck (but it was the truck he had when I was like 12) and drive out to a store to find stand in rings with like 4 hours before the ceremony starts. I got back and everyone was already there, but they were cooking out and drinking. I go looking for Fiance (in my dream I knew it was him, but it didn’t really look like him) and he’s making out with some random girl in a stairwell. I have no clue who this girl is, but in my dream I knew her and she was, uhm….not of full mental capacity. I tell everyone that the wedding is off and they need to leave, but no one leaves, they just look at me and continue drinking/cooking food. I find Fiance and try to kick him and the girl out and she starts yelling at me and threatening me, saying things that made no sense and refusing to leave. I punched her in the face, then my Great Aunt who is kind of a jerk and gossip came up to me and said how unlady like it was to do something like that. It was such an odd dream.

My wedding is just over a month away now and for the past few months I’ve had heaps of wedding dreams/nighmares, I’m glad I’m not the only one! Isn’t it funny how most of the dreams seem to be about things going wrong or not having things done in time? That’s what most of mine have been about. A couple of mine have had things go wrong like I’ll be walking down the aisle and the music will stop and it’s too late to start again.. or in one of my dreams the photographer didn’t show up and we had to just go ahead and start the wedding and I was real upset because I wouldn’t have any memories of the day. Another one was that everything was going wrong and I was really upset and my bridesmaids weren’t helping me. I’ve had ones where it’s the wedding day and I suddenly realise I’ve forgotten to pick a song to walk down the aisle to (even though I already have one picked out lol). My fiance has only had one wedding dream and it was that in the dream he had to ask his mother whether he had said ‘i do’ or not because he couldn’t remember lol.
What is with these dreams?! I guess it’s because there is so much to plan for weddings that we worry that we might miss stuff or things might go wrong on the day. Hopefully they are not preminitions :S haha

I had another bizarre one last night which really upset me.
It seems in a series of errors, everyone forgot the wedding and all of its details. Except I knew I was supposed to get married. So instead of being in our venue for it, we were in my parents’ living/dining room 600 miles away. Instead of the 80 or so people invited, there were 8.
We were waiting for my fiance to show up, but he never did. You know those huge 3 feet tall teddy bears? Some random person married me to the bear, saying it was a placeholder for when my fiance showed up. Then we went to the dining room to eat our meal. I was heartbroken and my uncle was sitting there telling me I cooked everything wrong, you’re supposed to ice cupcakes with hot icing (???)!
Finally, I posted to my livejournal that I was married and everything went wrong and I was fine. It was a total lie and the minute I hit “post” the waterworks started. Everyone told me I was overreacted so I left. Finally my fiance found me (my real one not the teddy bear!) and we talked. He understood just how badly he had screwed up and apologized profusely. We were going to just do it all right but we had blown the budget. We DID pay for a venue and a DJ and an officant and EVERYTHING…we just didn’t use any of that.
I told him I was devistated now but I’d eventually be okay once we got married officially even without a big to-do.

I just had my first wedding nightmare last night. I get nightmares almost every night – a lovely side effect of medication – so I’m surprised it hasn’t happened earlier.
In my dream, my wedding was like ten minutes after my cousin’s wedding (he is actually getting married next weekend) so nobody was there on time. For some reason the wedding was in a primary school so I had to get ready in the toilets. I had nobody to do hair and makeup and I kept stuffing up the veil. And my fiance had literally no idea what to say (as in, he forgot to say ‘I do’). AND all my friends from uni were mad at me for some reason, didn’t turn up and made fun of me the entire time.
I woke up FREAKING OUT.

I had another horrible dream last night!
So it was our wedding day and everything that could go wrong did.
The tablecloths were this hideous huge floral print that clashed with everything. One of my coworkers who wasn’t invited thought it would be funny to call and change the menu, so instead of an elegant 4 course meal, each table got a huge appetizer sampler platter. I did the math in my head during the dream and our actual price is $56/head, they were providing $15/table’s worth of food and refused to see the problem with this, nor would they correct the problem or reimburse us.
My flowers never showed up, so I walked down the aisle clutching nothing.
My fiance refused to give a damn about the day. He wouldn’t hold my hands when I got up front.
I had a coverup on to cover my dress and it stuck to me with static, I couldnt’ get it off until halfway down the aisle.
My father interrupted the ceremony to say “I love you” and when I told him he needed to sit down and wait until we were done, he faked passing out for attention.
Finally, I had reached the point where I was chanting to myself “as long we end up married, as long as we end up married…” (which has been my mantra this whole planning process). Unfortunately, our officiant decided to go off script what with everything else falling to pieces and decided to sing instead of conduct the rest of the ceremony. His argument was nothing else was as planned, might as well embrace the randomness.
Talk about a clusterfuck of a dream. AHH!
