haha i’m really happy to hear it’s tucked away safely in your mom’s closet!

my dreams are not really wedding related, more relationship so. but i’ve been dreaming a lot about cheating on my fiance. it really bugged me and whenever i woke up in the middle of the night i always hugged him really tight! it was a little sad ๐Ÿ™ because i don’t think i could ever do that to a person, let alone my fiance.

but i heard nightmares in general are really common when you’re getting married, so i’m not trying to dwell on it too much! ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a dress nightmare that was more memorable to me than any other. I dreamed the wrong dress arrived, and it was nothing like what I ordered. So i dreamed we had to take scissors and cut the dress all up to get it to look more like the style it was supposed to be. And we ended up with a hacked up mess. It was truly a nightmare to think about taking scissors to my $2k gown that I waited 4 months for.

amoore2:  I have them at least once week. One that I’ve had was where I realized my wedding was in two day and never planned anything and was scrambling to find a venue.

Another was where I was working (I’m a teacher) and realized it was my wedding day and I was stuck bringing my students with me.

I remember vividly my wedding nightmares! The worst was when I dreamed that my (then) fiancé and I went back to my hometown for my 5 year class reunion. As we were chatting with some people we had known from high school, they asked when the wedding was. Without thinking I responded “Tomorrow.” And then it hit me that we were 6 hours from our wedding site, I hadn’t decorated anything for the reception, my dress was at my house (3 hours north of our wedding venue) and I didn’t have my bridesmaids’ pinwheels or our unity sand set or anything!

So we got in the car and drive all night and then when we finally got home I fell asleep and woke up to discover my fiancé already gone and headed for the wedding. I didn’t get my hair or make up done, the ceremony didn’t start until dark because I was so late. Since I didn’t have my dress, I wound up wearing a white sundress, my bridesmaids carried solar lights as their bouquets! And still… By the end of it, when I saw my fiancé looking at me as I walked down the aisle, I knew that all the stuff I forgot didn’t matter.

So… A nightmare with a happy ending I guess? Very strange!

I tend to have wedding nightmares over really minute things, which I find pretty hilarious.

In one of the more vivid ones, I woke up in a cold sweat because the band forgot to play music between the salad course and the intermezzo. As if this was some giant emergency.

I have problems.

I had my first nightmare a couple weeks ago. It was my wedding day and my fiancé called me to remind me that we were getting married that day and asked me if I paid all of the vendors. I hadn’t paid anyone since the deposits so no one except my dj was going to show up!  Im getting married on a holiday weekend so everyone rescheduled with other couples!

I had my first a few nights ago. The hairdresser ended up accidentally cutting off all my hair whilst trying to an up do. In the end I just rocked the bob but it was a stressful dream while she was chopping away!

I only had one, but it was a few terrors wrapped up in one.

I dreamt that I was running really late so my mother offered to do my make-up. She covered my face with green eye shadow which obviously looked horrible, but I didn’t have time to take it off so I had to get married like that.

Then I was trying to get someone to watch our daughter but nobody would help.

Eventually I got down the aisle, and my husband was wearing a white sailors uniform like when Ariel and Eric got married in The little mermaid.

I need to share my nightmares with people (this is my first post!) and to know that I’m not alone. I’ve had a few dreams already, and apparently they just get worse and worse the closer you get to the wedding. So buckle up ladies, it’s only just beginning!

The first dream I had, hardly anybody showed up to the reception, but my Fiance saved it and made it perfect (Which I know he’d never be able to pull off IRL!).

The second one was the most bizarre. It was at the hall in my home town and it was the day before the wedding. I realised we didn’t have a DJ booked, and I asked my bridesmaid to fix it. She said she couldn’t becuase she was too busy eating an avocado. Then some random said they could get Olivia Newton John to entertain and ran off to find her, but I was worried because she would be expensive, like $5000, and blow the budget for the wedding.  I don’t think I’ll ever have a dream as amazing as this one again!

My most recent dream was on Wednesday. I was at the venue, and a big Maori guy told me we couldn’t use the gazebo they’d shown us, we had to use an ugly one in front of an ugly brick wall. They’d sent the maori guy so that I wouldn’t argue, but I did, and halfway through the dream the ceremony changed to being in a room anyway! Then finally the ceremony starts, and I realise I’d forgotten to make my bouquet, and I’d forgotten my veil! So our cake lady hurried over and gave me a peach coloured veil that I refused to wear, and I just clasped my hands in front of me to pretend I was holding a bouquet. Then I walked down the aisle, which I realised was just a side passage filled with random people, but then I turned the corner and saw my Fiance… and realised he was drunk at the alter. Then the celebrant, who was a large Scottish man with a thick brogue, made us read these ridiculous vows, and halfway through mine I thought ‘This is terrible’ and made myself wake up. Which was at 8am on my day off, so I didn’t even get a sleep in ๐Ÿ™

Who knows what other terrors will manifest themselves in my delicate bridal psyche?

amoore2:  The worst two nights ago… I dreamed that everything went well except the hair stylist cut my hair and gave me short bangs! Which would look awful on me! It was the worst thing ever! Now I am terrified to go to a salon and get a trim before the big day!!! Seriously.

amoore2:  Yes!! I just had one last night–our church had closed with just a week before the wedding, and I didn’t have a back up plan!

I’ve had other dreams about my bridesmaids dresses, picture locations, my dress etc. Oye! LOL!
