- Wedding: October 2010
Let it be noted that we are not having a “traditional honeymoon”, not right now, anyway. Every year we go with out good friends to “Blizzcon”, a convention for Blizzard Entertainment games, such as World of Warcraft, which was how we happened to meet in the first place. This year the convention happens to be right after we get married, and since we can’t really afford to go take a cruise or anything else right now (maybe next year), decided to call Blizzcon our “honeymoon” so to speak. We’ve decided that we’ll go to Disneyland on Thursday, attend the convention on Friday and Saturday, and then Disneyland again on Sunday, which sometime that evening we will drive home. Our good friend and guild master organizes a room block every year for the convention, and since we decided that this was going to be our honeymoon, decided to request our own hotel room, so we could have some “alone time” He sent me a message yesterday saying that our hotel for 3 nights was going to be $780+ tax/hotel fees. Add Disneyland tickets, dinner, souvenirs… and it starts getting expensive fast. We’re paying for most of our wedding by ourselves, so we’ll probably be pretty broke, and while we’ll probably get some money from the wedding from guests, I really don’t want to be relying on that to pay for our trip.
If we share the room with another couple, that slashes the hotel cost in half- we’d instantly be saving $400! I can’t imagine we’ll be spending tons of time in our hotel room, since we’re gonna wanna maximize our time at the convetion and I’m sure we could probably arrange with the other couple for periods of time where the room is off-limits (I’m sure they’d probably like the same thing as well). Plus, we’ve been living together for over 2 years now, so it’s not like our wedding night/honeymoon will be the first time we’ll be having sex, so it’s not like it’s a super big deal.
What do you bees think? Would it be really weird to spend your “honeymoon” with another couple?
