Okay, I don’t know who to turn to. i feel so sad. I can’t even fully share this with my fiance because I didn’t want him to see the dress until our wedding day.
I bought a wedding dress on ebay and I sent it to an online wedding dress cleaner to have it cleaned. I got the dress back this friday after work. Today we brought it over to my parents house to store for me and when we opened the preservation box, I was floored. The front of the dress is falling apart. The dress was not like this at all when I gave it to them. My mom reassured me it can be put back together. My dress is the Vera Wang Audrey dress. Its hand sewn and now parts of it are falling off and some of the pleats were taken out and now its puffy.
It’s just not what i expected to see.
I tried calling right then and there but It’s the weekend and its late at night. No one picked up. I just sent them an email BUT IM SO SAD!!!!

You poor thing. I’m so sorry. I’m no seamstress, but if your mom thinks it can be put back together, it probably can. I’m sure it will be rough waiting until Monday to contact anyone, but hang in there. I wish you all the best. Good luck, keep us posted!

Does the online cleaners have any kind of guarantee? You should be able to get your money back and damages for repairs anyway.
Do you have pictures of the dress before you sent it to them? From the ebay seller or anything, to prove that it wasn’t damaged before you sent it out there? They definitely owe you the cost of the repairs, and its just easier to prove if you have evidence.
Also, maybe contact the BBB for where they work out of and file a complaint or see if anybody else has?

They have a gurantee to the preservation of the gown, but not the condition it returns in. I only have pictures from the ebay seller however, the dress is in an obvious state of array.
I’ll wait for their email response before I go forward with any other action.
Thank you for your suggestions and support.

Can you share who you used? I was strongly considering an online wedding dress cleaning service also, and reading this is making me think otherwise. =/

I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but I am taking a negotiations class right now and have some advice. Don’t start being accusatory. Try to be friendly & say something like "I hope we can work this out together"…be prepared to get strict if they don’t budge, but try to push that out of your head until you need to get tough…know what your limits are before calling them, what do you expect them to do? You probably already realize this, but you should only go to BBB if you think you cannot resolve with them first, or after the resolved solution is FULFILLED. If they do not resolve the dispute at all, you may want to warn other people on the wedding sites…

Rebecca, please private message me for the company I used.
cannotwait- thank you for your advice! You’re a really tough gal…I wish i was more like that.
So i got a reply to my email…they are refunding me everything I paid, they said they will send me a 300 dollar check to have my dress fixed. They also said they would investigate further to see what happend to the dress and email me back. I am relieved they responded so promptly. I know what you guys are thinking, what if it cost more to have the gown fixed. the bottom needs to be re-stiched by hand and repleated.
I honestly just want get the entire situation over with. I was really freaked out the entire weekend about the dress. I’ve never been so frazzled in my life.

I am sorry your gown was damaged. If you’re willing to sell it I can most likely find a tailor to fix it. You could also rent it to me. I really want the authentic Audrey, I have my <3 set on it!
