@Gingersnap: If you can blush on the internet, I just did. LOL. I know I’m somewhat anonymous, but… maybe I’m a prude? LOL. I just think “omg, I’m about to talk about putting a razor near my butt. In detail.”.

@Gingersnap: think like you’re going to play leap frog, allows for easy access to anything you may want to remove hair from Wink (i may or may not have taught Fiance to do this when he needed to shave everything for a body building comp, LOL)

@.twist.: Hahaha I totally understand. If it’s any consolation the whole internet seems shy about this too. Ah well, guess I’ll never know.

Sorry ladies who sent me @ comments- I’m a BRAND new bee, and still figuring out the site!

For me, I have very pale skin, and VERY dark, thick, coarse, curly hair.  I started going to see a laser/electrologist about 7 years ago when my doctors were testing me for PCOS, and I’ve been going to see her every few months since. I seriously looked like I was part gorilla! I have done my “beard” and “moustache” (lol), eyebrows, (w/electrolosis), underarms, forearms, tummy, bikini lines, and now my LEGS! For me, I used to shave in the morning, and get a 5 o’clock shadow ON MY LEGS! I hated being stubbly, and for me, the time, money, and frustration I save by getting a treatment every few months is totally worth it. I figured I could get waxed every few weeks and shave every day, OR spend a little extra on something that’s going to be permanent. Some day, I’ll never have to shave again!! As of now, my underarms and bikini lines are nearly perfectly hairfree- maybe once a week, or every other week I will get a few light, baby-fine hairs that need a little touching up, but for the most part, nothing. Forearms, face, tummy- all DONE!

In terms of number of treatments, it definitely varies based on hair/skin type, what area is being done, etc.  Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only targets and kills the hair folicle when it is in the active growth phase, hence the need for multiple treatments.  After a treatment, you have about a week or so where the hair “purges” basically, the dead hairs that were under the surface are working their way out of your skin. Just exfoliate, and watch them wash away like magic! Each treatment will last about 6-8weeks, sometimes longer, and each successive treatment will last longer than the last.  It’s not a one shot deal, but you will find your unwanted hair gets noticably finer, lighter, and sparser until it just stops growing back at all. And for a girl who used to cry over her gorilla arms and face, that is an amazing thing!

Sorry for this NOVEL, but I hope that helps anyone who is considering it! Smile

@FutureMrsFishy: So, the regrowth is actually just the other follicles that were on a different cycle and didn’t get hit in the first treatment?  Once all of the follicles are killed by x number of treatments, depending on how many hairs are in the growth cycle each time, that’s it, the hair never grows back again? Or does it come back eventually-months?years?

I’m very interested in anything that will let me never shave again because I’m one of those people who gets the horrible red bumps at my bikini line and underarms – I literally can’t shave either of those spots more than twice a week at absolute most, which isn’t too good in the summer, especially since I have also have light skin (read practically translucent) and brown hair that likes to grow fast.

@Anne9091:  Have you tried an electric razor or trimmer?  I too get horrible razor burn and ingrown hairs, and it’s amazing what a difference it makes for me.  It obviously doesn’t feel *quite* as smooth as a regular razor because they don’t lift the hair like a regular razor, but (I think) that’s why it helps with the other problems.

@Ambrocked: I’ll have to try it. I’m almost ready to give up feeling completely smooth, just to be able to avoid the red bumps.  I think I’ve tried every cream, gel, and salve on market for this and nothing seems to make a difference at all.

I shave most of it, except the hair in the very middle part because it tends to be way more sensitive. I’d do waxing but I don’t feel like spending the money and I’m afraid it might hurt.

@waxbutterfly:  just a tip, if you remove that hair in the middle, it can make intimacy that much more amazing because it IS so sensitive (weird that it makes such a difference, but trust me, it does !).  =)   As I mentioned previously, I just use an electric shaver/trimmer to prevent injury/pain.

@Ambrocked:And if he is freshly shaven and you are freshly shaven all the way for both, it is a fantastic feeling!
