And she only admitted it when I put 2 and 2 together and pressed her for information.
I just got off the phone with my friend Mary. She mentions that she went into the city to see a show this past Saturday.
I asked her what show and who all went. She said “My friend from church” and she gave me the name.
I said, “Gee, that’s nice. What does he do for a living?”
“he works for a scenic designer,” she replied… and then it hit me: she’s again dating “Boob” the same guy who treated her horribly 2 years ago. He had a job with…you guessed it: a scenic designer.
She went thorugh quite the time with Boob. This was 2 years ago (his name is Bob but I call him Boob because that is what he is….and you will find out why). Things started out fine but then she started seeing flashes of temper and they got into a terrible fight on the way to some college reuinon party of his.
He also made her life misearable right after that — he threatened her at one point and that is why she finally saw the light.
I got the usual “never again oh no I did this because i wanted somebody to pay attention to me…”
Originally she gave me another name: she said John (and that she and John were going to be going away to some affair Mary got invited to; the thing is several states away from here) — last December I was at her house and Boob was there; I saw him at her house — he dropped by for a second — and said to myself “is thzat Boob???” but I thought I was mistaking him for somebody else — I thought I had the face wrong — and I concluded “naw, can’t be Boob; not possible” and never gave it another thought.
(The guy did not introduce himself and Mary did not introduce him to me. I figured he must be a neighbor I never met or somebody else but still you don’t introduce me??? See, this is why I didn’t think it was possible that the guy was Boob. [I also haven’t seen him in about 8 years and this guy sincerely did not look familiar to me )
No, I never gave another thought until today. It all fit and I knew in my gut this was the same dirtbag!
“BIG MISTAKE” I told her. She replied, “it isn’t what you think,” and added “We are getting counseling.”
She thinks all is fine and dandy!
My head is spinning.
The day she finally saw the light with Boob — she came dashing over to my house at 10 am on a Sunday morning 2 summers ago; she spent half the day at my house and was terrified and crying. I got the whole nine yards: didn’t know what she was going to do, should she call the police, how afraid she was and so forth.
So she was so scared of him she took him back 13 months later???? Holy cow.:(
I am disgusted mostly. This little liaison has been going on since last September. “Funny how you never tell me these things and keep them a big secret” I said to her. She kept it a big secret too 2 years ago when she started to see Boob — probably because she knows i will tell her it’s a big big mistake.
He’s a piece of dirt. he’s been arrested and has time on his sheet and ugh, there is much more to it than that.
I said “Do you need a jailbird???” To this she said nothing.
(I only met this guy once or twice before this, many moons ago when he was still engaged to somebody else; he was at her house back then and he wasn’t too terribly friendly — even when i saw him at her hosue last winter he never said “hiya, remember me? How have you been? I’m Boob in case you don’t remember.” This in itself is kind of rude, don’t you think? You cans ee he’s not a great guy, jsut from that alone)
My friend has always been very very needy. She is the kind who will stay with a guy long after the relationship is long gone. Not the kind to be a lot more independent than that. it’s very sad.
I don’t want his ass around and he is not welcome in my home….I have not told her this yet but this is how I feel. I believe he is dangerous and I do not wish to have any part of him.
“What did your sister and brother in law say about all of this?” (they do not like Boob) “Oh,” she said, “They didn’t say anything much…”probably because they know what they say will be falling on deaf ears.
Ugh. I hope this jerk leaves her flat again. She needs this like a hole in the head.
