I need help here. My best friend and one of my bridesmaids does not want to wear a dress! I only have 3 bm’s and i told them they can wear any dress they want as long as its brown but my bff hates dresses and wants to wear a pant suit type of outfit. I guess i dont really mind if she does but we need help finding something. Any suggestions. Im thinking some nice brown dress pants and some type of heel and the top can be sleeveless i suppose.

Since you gave them very liberal dress guidelines, I don’t think it should be a big deal for her to wear brown dress pants and a brown top. Maybe a silk/satin tank would look nice?

She’s your BFF… is she your maid/matron of honour too? It’s pretty common to have the Maid/Matron of Honor wear something a little different from the other maids, so a pantsuit will be fine if that’s what makes her comfortable. Try putting your maids in floor lenth dresses to minimize the visual effect of pants vs skirts in pictures.

If you really are ok with it, then I am sure you kind find something that will look nice. But, if you aren’t ok with it, she needs to suck it up for one day and wear a dress for you.

@Rosie Girl: agreed!
Its something you do for your friend, regardless of whether you enjoy wearing dresses or not.

I was just in Macy’s the other day and they had lovely pant suits. Might want to check it out.

Are the other girls wearing long dresses? Maybe some wide legged trousers wouldn’t stand out too much.

There are some nice tailored pantsuits on Victorias Secret’s website that could work, here’s a picture of one that sounds like it might fit your needs:

@Rosie Girl: This. I never wear skirts/dresses as a general “rule”, but I have worn dresses as Bridesmaid or Best Man (because the bride asked us to) and to super-formal weddings (where anything but an evening gown on a “young lady” would have looked under-dressed and discourteous).

No she’s not the Maid/Matron of Honor she is actually #3 in line.

Oh, you should get those pants that look like long skirts…um.
Something like this. But I don’t know what it’s called
And then a nice tank top would look nice. =]

@Rosie Girl: @PitBulLover: I agree 100%! She needs to suck it up and do it for you:)

Won’t a pant suit make her look like she’s going to a job interview rather than being in a wedding? That’s my 2 cents.

While I don’t know the circumstances about this particular person, I thought I would throw in my two cents about dress vs. pants issues. I think there is a difference between “I don’t like dresses, I prefer pants” and deeper identity issues that make people really really uncomfortable in certain clothes. My sister’s girlfriend feels as comfortable in a dress as my Fiance would. For most people, I would say suck it up and wear what the bride wants, but in some cases it is just plain mean to make someone feel super uncomfortable for the sake of a few cohesive photgraphs.

what about pants like this:
with a little sparkly or satin tank top? still formal and dressy, but she may be more comfortable
