Hi Bees… Who’s working to shed a few lbs and tone up before wedding day?? I’m not getting married until October, and “thought I had some time”…. until I got my engagement photos back this week and almost died. I do NOT want to look like that on wedding day!
My initial plan was to just ‘be healthy’ and then go all out starting in like April or May. My reasoning (aka EXCUSE) was that I didn’t want to wprk out, then plateau around summer time, and end up gaining wait/not being my best come fall. The problem is.. holidays, alcohol, fun winter activities.. they are not going to help me ‘be healthy.’ I think I was putting this off because I didn’t want to bother with really getting into a life style change (read LAZY), but I think enough is enough! Rather than wait til April/May, I am starting NOW. Been really watching calories and have made a much more conscious effort to work out (despite the snow, and very stong feelings to cuddle inside on the couch). Christmas is going to be a real issue, so I just have to stay motivated..
Starting Jan 1, I’m doing a 5 day juice cleanse, then will be on a low calorie, high protein vegan diet. I’ve done it before- so long as I make sure I get enough calcium/protein, and watch the nuts and carbs that are so easy to snack on when dairy/eggs/meat aren’t an option, it really shows results. I also am getting back into Bikram yoga to add to my pilates, and am cutting back on alcohol.
Who else has a plan? Motivation buddies?? Good luck to alL!

another October bride here! About 2 weeks ago I started my weight lose/health journey. Like you initially, I figured I would wait until Spring to start working out so that I won’t gain it all back before the big day lol. But then I decided that I’ve been complaining for like 2 years about being out of shape so I’m using this time to not only lose weight for the wedding, but also be physically fit for the first time in my life. I’m giving myself till March to get to the ‘number’ I want and then using the rest of the time for real toning and building good habits that will last me for a while! Sorry I’m long winded!
I’ve started using the Blogilates videos by Cassey on youtube and I highly reccommend them. I’m also trying to walk 2 to 3 miles at least 3 times a week until I can work myself up to going to the gym religiously. My first week I tried to be at about 1200 calories/day (per the myfitnesspal app) to get me used to portion sizes and such and then this week I switched to low carb.

@jessalaa: First off, Congrats on quitting smoking! It seems like the perfect time to start making tons of new changes in your life. Since I started trying to shed the pounds, I found that thinking back to the times when I felt gross like you mentioned sometimes helped motivate me more than anything. So its a way of taking a negative feeling and turning it around to try to associate it with something positive. I’ve never been toned in my life so I feel your pain girl

Yay we can all motivate each other! September bride here and I am starting to feel the time crunch too! Our engagement photos are this Saturday and I really freaked out last week realizing how out of shape I am, and how much weight I’ve gained over the last semester. This past week I really tried to jump start my weight loss. I’ve been drinking water like its my JOB. I’ve been drinking weight loss tea. I’ve stuck to very low carbs and most of what I’ve been eating is salad and smoothies. There is a 4-day difference between these two pics:
I’ve lost a lot of water weight and some chub in my face, and have curbed a lot of my cravings. Also I stopped drinking Diet Coke (my addiction!!) I am 170 right now and wanting to lose about 35 pounds for the wedding 🙂 maybe we can all motivate each other!

I’m recovering from ACL surgery right now and still on crutches for another 2-3 weeks. I don’t know when I’m going to be able to work out and my wedding is in September. I am stressing HARDCORE because I gained some weight after my injury.
I’m going to start being a BIG stickler about diet in the new year. That, combined with the fact that I’ll simply be WALKING again, will hopefully help me shed some of the weight I gained post-injury. I’ll be in charge of all meals and have a better grocery budget than in the past, so … wish me luck, I guess.
I’m hoping that by May or so I can be active and start treadmill-ing and doing workout videos and so on, but we’ll see!

@shorebride105: I got engaged in September, and my wedding isn’t until August 2015, however I’ve lost about 13 pounds (was 172, down to 159). I eat well and work out a lot. I’ve been losing about a pound a week but I’m not expecting any weight loss this week or next because it’s Christmas. I think that’s great you’re getting motivated, however I don’t recommend a juice cleanse (does nothing for you to improve your health, only makes you lose water weight, almost guaranteed to gain the weight back when you start eating normally). Also, do you plan on eating a low cal high protein vegan diet forever? If not I once again recommend against it, only because once you start eating “normally” again you’ll gain weight. I’ve found success by doing things that I can do for the rest of my life – i.e. became a runner, eat healthy balanced meals every day, don’t deprive myself, etc. I don’t consider what I’m doing to be a diet because it’s just eating normal healthy foods.

@shorebride105: Date twins! I’ve lost about 60lbs in 1.5 years, but I’d love to get those last 10lbs (aka vanity) off. I’m going to watch what I eat during the Christmas season, but I’m not going to feel guilty if I manage to go overboard. The easiest thing to do is water! Drink it before, during, and after every meal. It will help you stay full.
I also wouldn’t do something drastic that you can’t keep up for the rest of your life. Cardio, weight training, and eating clean (nuts, whole/raw fruits, veg, lean proteins, whole grains) is the way to go. Weight training is AWESOME because it helps you lose inches. When you know you’re doing everything “right”, take your measurements! One month I lost 13″ total from my neck/chest/waist/hips, and the scale had only moved 1lb.
@FutureMrsT1221: WOW! Awesome!
WE CAN DO THIS!

@shorebride105: Yep… I’m in the same boat! My wedding is in May, which means I am less than 5 months out!! And I just texted my friend the other day with the exact words you expressed, “I DO NOT want to look like this on my wedding day!” I haven’t even had engagement pics taken yet because I’m seriously disliking the way I look and feel…
And, I have had like NO motivation, which is so weird! I thought for sure that being this close to my wedding would be motivation enough to kick it into high gear, but for some reason, all I want to eat is junk food! Help! I need some accountability buddies!

Good luck ladies. I’m already married but I gained a lot of weight since we started living together over a year ago. I’m back to logging calories and working out again. Working out regularly feels great. I need to lose another 10 pounds to get back to my weight before living together and then another 10 pounds to be at a healthy BMI.

ME! I an 5’4″ and weigh 135 lbs on the dot. I would like to lose 15 lbs.
My wedding gown is a size 4 and doesn’t zip right now. I am hoping to lose those 15 lbs by our May 24 wedding so that I won’t need alterations.

I’ve been shredding the weight to improve my life and appearance and maaaaaaybe for a wedding, if my lovely boyfriend of 9 years ever proposes to me!
I’ve lost 51 pounds already, and need another 19 to reach my goal weight! I lose weight VERY slowly, i yo yo a lot because i am not entirely consistent with my eating and exercise.
So far i have started T focus 25, 30 DS and Chalean extreme, and did 9 weeks of Body revolution – this gave me some muscle definition and made me feel stronger and fitter! I also completed c25k and developed a taste for jogging.
I am very worried that since i am often inconsistent and i lose weight slowly i wont manage to lose those 19 pounds for another year or so 🙁
