So last time I posted about my dress, I was in loooove with a satin halter dress, but had found another dress which felt much more “bridal” and I felt more “like a bride” in it, vs. just wearing a pretty, sexy dress that happened to be ivory. But that other dress was strapless which I 100% hate, so I let it go.
Well, I mulled it over until my head practically exploded, and then on OBB the other day, I see this post, and it was like the dress lords had reached into my computer screen and showed me the perfect embodiment of the look I have been trying to achieve all along but couldn’t quite articulate. Classic and classy but with a modern twist. Sweet, but not cloying. Elegant, but not stuffy. And not the same old same old.
And so, I found an already-owned ivory shrug in my closet (used for picture purposes only; actual wedding day shrug TBD but it will be lace & cap sleeves), put on my shoes and jewelry, and headed to DB today alone to try on the “more bridal” dress from last time. And it was perfect, so perfect, more perfect than I could ever imagine. I did not want to take it off ever in a million years.
And so, I present to you…my wedding day ensemble 🙂
(The sash will be ivory & a little bit wider than that.)
SOOOOOO happy 😀 😀 😀 it’s supposed to come in in September, so before then I’ll have to order my shrug and figure out a headpiece for the reception (since I don’t plan on wearing my veil all night; my 2″ long hair barely holds it in, I don’t want to be readjusting all night). I’ll also decide on a slip then too; it’ll be easier to see the overall look when the dress actualy fits me.
And I got to take the veil home with me today! It was a discontinued style and on sale and EXACTLY the style I was looking for: plain, 2-tier, round cut, between elbow and fingertip length, a little bit of volume up top…it was like it was meant to be.
Oh my gosh I am so happy. I have never felt more beautiful in my life as I did in this ensemble. 😀 😀 😀 😀
