If you saw what I wear on a daily basis, it would come as no surprise that I need help choosing shoes for my dress (and lets not even get started on accessories!) Fashionista I am NOT! And frankly, I have no idea where to start, so I thought I would tap into the collective wisdom, talent and fashion eye of the hive! The catch is that I need to wear flats b/c I’m taller than Fiance. Do I do ballet flats? Flat sandals? Peep-toe? Do flats even go with this dress? Any ideas?

What color is that thread? I can’t really tell from the picture. I would wear a small heel. I just think dresses look better with some sort of heel, even if it’s just a kitten heel. You’re going to be taller than your Fiance forever…he’ll have to get used to it sometime. 🙂
What’s your budget?

Do you have a budget and particular color you would like the shoes to be?

The designer calls the color "sparrow" which is similar to champagne. I’m hoping to find something under $100. My primary wedding color is a deep purple, and while that would be fun to find something in that color, I’m guessing my best bet is to look for somthing in ivory or bronze (?). Of course, I’m always open to suggestions!
@KateMW: you’re right, he is going to have to get used to it! Unless he starts wearing heels! (yikes!)

I agree with KateMW on going for a small heel / kitten heel. As for the colors, I think Ivory, champagne or maybe even the deep purple would go well. I am not sure about the bronze but the other women will let you know.

My Fiance is the same height as me and I don’t necessarily think heels are a requirement to look nicer with dresses. They’re just more standard. I bought really nice "resort sandals" from Neiman Marcus for $90 and they look really dressy. They peek out from under my dress and look very formal. I find a kitten heel too short for my taste–i prefer no heels or 3" heels and up. 2" wedges for work are ok too
Anyways, I think a very dressy flat sandal could be the way to go if you don’t want heels. And, you can always wear them afterwards. I love those gorgeous satin shoes, but I couldn’t justify buying then only to never really wear them again.
I normally don’t mind wearing heels with my Fiance, but I didn’t want to feel like I should scrunch in all my pictures with him. I hate when I’m taller than him in pictures…it makes me uncomfortable and I don’t like it. I’m almost 6 feet tall, so nobody is surprised when I’m taller than him but I don’t want that in all my wedding pics!
They’re on sale for $82 right now

I’m on the hunt for flats or low heels in deep purple too – our wedding is outside and I’ll be walking some uneven ground. So far I’ve found really cute purple flats and really cute shoes with 3.5 inch heels. If you’d like me to share what I’ve found, PM me….I have several links! 🙂
