- Wedding: June 2013
When I started my wedding shoe search I knew I wanted flats (I’m 5’7 and my fiance is 6′ so I didn’t want to be too close in height with heels). I first found the Addias Jeremy Scott ballet flats with wings which looked totally awesome:
Alas, the short lifespan of this trend ended before I could get my hands on real ones and I happened upon a complaint that the wings rubbed against the bottom of one’s ankles… I had no choice but to continue my search.
I moved on to the color shoe option. My main wedding color is royal blue and there are certainly plenty of royal blue flats out there but they all just seemed sooo…boring! Etsy options were unique but way too arts n’ crafty and no way was I going to shell out $250+ on top brand shoes.
Then there’s the Swarovski trend…
AWESOME shoes but also a lot of work, time, and would it be too much in flats form? Also, I’m not changing out of my wedding dress for the reception so people wouldn’t even see them and I feel like all the effort would be wasted if you can’t see them sparkle on the dance floor.
But more importantly, what I loved about the Adidas shoes were that they just felt so… ME. There are other cool shoes out there but none of them were really a representation of who I am as a person. It’s just like finding your wedding dress or your husband, you just KNOW when it’s the right one.
I love cute, cheerful, fun things so I finally turned to the online asian store: yesstyle.com and finally found “the one(s)”:
They’re cute and completely unique (at least as far as what I’ve been seeing) but there was one other element that gave me the opportunity to make them really me: the cherries.
You see, my name is Crystal and my fiance’s name is Ryan (a name who’s origin means “Little King”). The rhinestones on the left could represent my name and I added a small crown on each blank cherry to represent my fiance:
Like “the one” dress and husband, it’s not about perfection or money. It’s about what’s right for you. My shoe search is over and I couldn’t be happier, not just because I’m sick of Google image search and Pinterest, but because I feel like I not only found something that’s me but also represents the bond my future husband and I share. It’s not I or me, it’s us.
Ok ok so maybe that’s a little too much weight on shoes but whatever, I like it. 😛
Happy Shoe Searching!
