SO, I read that post from Miss Armadillo about her DIY Ruby Slippers and am so in love with them. I decided I wanted some too, my bridesmaids are wearing red and I thought they’d be super cute under the dress. Except I keep getting told they are very Dorothy. You know the one. And, sadly, I am not a fan of Oz. I like the white ones as well though..so now I am stuck. Thoughts?
This is the dress that I have sitting in my mothers closet
Miss Armadillo’s fabulous red slippers (although I wanted to DIY peep toes)

white slippers (I found these on eBay but I can DIY them waaaay cheaper)
So….does everyone think Oz when they see the red ones (even as a peep toe?)…and will they bee too much for that dress or should I just get over it and go with my first thought that the red ones are super cute and will look adorbs under the dress?

If it was more sequin-like I’d think Oz, but if you just strass them with rhinestones I think they would look pretty classy. I’m personally a fan!

Do they make YOU think of Dorothy? If not, I say go for it. If others bring it up, then tell them it’s not what you see, and that’s the end of it. I love the idea of the strassed red peep toes. The white ones look great, too. Lucky you to have two options you really like!

if they’re red peeptoe they won’t look like their from the Wizard of Oz!

I happen to love The Wizard of Oz, lol. Since you’re BM’s are wearing red and you love the idea of the red, I say go for it! Who cares what people think? Your intention isn’t for them to be THE ruby slippers.

I like them both for different reasons. I would get more use out of the red ones, but the white ones say YAY, I’m getting married bitches! The Red ones are fun, the white ones are sexy. Either way you’d be fine

I love the red ones, but they definitely scream Dorothy to me and if you don’t like the Wizard of Oz, then you probably don’t want to hear that. Those white heels are FAB! Like, drop dead gorgeous and will make peoples’ jaws drop. My vote is for those.
PS. Strassing out shoes is a heck of a lot of work. I had a pair of shoes that I spent $10 on and decided to go the DIY route, but in reality it would have been worth the money because they’re such a pain. I think they took me around 16 hours in total.

Nothing wrong with Dorothy shoes, but you’ve gotta be prepared for the comparisons if you go with the red shoes. I do think the higher, more elegant heel and peeptoe will make your shoes look less “There’s no place like home”. If you love them, go for it!

@PacificMrs: I figured it would take some time (of which I have got) as long as I make a decision in the near future anyways!
