So..I was on a search for YELLOW heels for my wedding…not an easy task. I ended up just ordering this cheap-o pair from eBay…
A little stripper-ish, but I like em anyway 😛
I was super excited when they arrived only to open the box and find THIS hot mess…
Can’t tell too well in this picture, but they are very bright.
Now, I’m all about fun and bright and different…I mean, we DID choose yellow as our color. But, this just doesn’t match anything..or my groom’s cool kicks….
SO..I went on down to my happy place a.k.a. Hobby Lobby and purchased the following items:
1 tube of “normal” yellow acrylic paint
1 tube of gray acrylic paint
1 tube of textile medium.
Got home and went to work…use 2 parts paint to 1 part medium.
I was surprised how easily the paint went on and stayed on because the shoes were super shiny
see the difference!!
Took about 3 coats to get it all covered. Just let it dry between coats, which didn’t take too long…
Then it was time to do work on the bottoms..they were a funky brown and just didn’t go with it..plus, gray is the other wedding color…so I just paainted the bottoms and the heel gray with about 3 coats on there too.
Most people tape it all nice and neat, but not me…I just painted and it was fine.
Also, I didn’t add a topcoat of Mod Podge or sealer…I’m diggin’ this matte look, and nothing’s chipping or peeling off so..I’m good.
Also got a little more cheese and added “I DO” stickers to the bottom. Not sold on the stickers, but I can remove them if i wanna…so, whatevs.
Ahh..finally..”normal” yellow! This only took an hour or so and was SUPER easy…soooo…if you can’t find the right shade, don’t fret because there is hope! 🙂
