sarahcate :  I would tell them to wear whatever they want.

Cowboy boots would be cute, but could be expensive if the girls don’t already own them

I’d go with sandals they already own in a coordinating color (nude, black, whatever goes best with your dresses)

sarahcate :  I’d just set a general guideline like sandals in whatever range of colors would go with the dresses, then let them choose. Hopefully it works out that they can wear something that they already own.

You can give general guidelines for shoes likely to be owned or worn again only, for example a neutral dress shoe. You do not properly have discretion over specific footwear.

Hi bee

my wedding is in a country barn style too. Men are wearing boots with their suits and my bridesmaids are all wearing cowboy boots too with their coral knee length dress!! They all found a pair on amazon that they liked for $75 and didn’t have a problem buying them.

Are the groomsmen wearing matching boots? if so then I would want my bridesmaids to be matching as well, otherwise in pictures it will be noticable and stand out.  Nude is an easy color as most people already have it.

Let them choose, within reason (hot pink hooker heels are a no-go). We had short dresses. Sister wore gorgeous heels, bestie wore flats and I had wedges. We all looked great.

sarahcate :  I think that is reasonable and they can definately wear them again.
