Probably depends on where abroad. I’m in Asia and am not having a good time with it. I’ll likely have something custom made or will just risk it and order something pre-owned because at least that I can see real pics of and it costs less and thus is less scary. It has not been a positive experience for me so far.

I tried on lots of dresses in Malaysia. They were all hideous. But I actually had my dress made whilst I was on holiday in China. It’s on another thread here, actually… about “Travelling to Suzhou in search of the dress”. That sums up my China experience.

I’m likely to buy my dress in the US, as the ones here are really overpriced, and not in the slightest my style (thinks gone with the wind and pink frills). I don’t think that’s what you mean. I buy things from overseas via the web all the time. As in, I have 3 things arriving in the next week (well, technically one arrived today).

I also shop wherever I go. Overall, my experience has been great, just remember that quality is almost always bought for a price. That price may not be the same price, but in a cheaper country, the $12 item is likely to be a better investment than the $6 item, even if they cost $20 in your country.
