@Bunni0929:  Yes! Definitely go and try a lot of stuff on first and see what you like first to make sure you look good and love it, then pray that someone in your size is selling it pre-owned, lol.

I would never have otherwise payed full price. The girl I bought it from was an amazing person who made the buying process as special for me as her mom made it for her. We still keep in touch, so I got a dress and a friend out of the process.

@Bunni0929:  I am 5’1 as well, and had no problems wearing mermaids. I think the only dresses that were tought to pull off were ones that were really busy, but honestly anything can be tailored to look right on a shorty. Don’t worry!

5’1 and change bride here.  I’ve decided to go short, I’m going to have the dress hemmed from the waist, (so the detail at the bottom stays the same.  (The dress is short to begin with)  Also wearing 4 inch heels to make my legs look a little longer.

I’m 5’1 and I tried on this mori lee dress and really thought that I liked it…While standing on a platform that is! When the bridal consultant pinned it up to show me what it would look like after having it hemmed it made me look extremely short and squaty! They then tried to pull it up like it would be if they hemmed it from the seam but then it just hit in a weird spot.  I would absolutely try some on, but make sure there are seams that they can be altered at when hemmed so that they aren’t just cutting off lenght.  Good luck!

@Bunni0929:  Thanks!! I’m actually standing on a platform thing in the picture, that’s why.  It makes me about 7+inches taller than i really am!

@Bunni0929:  I’m 5’2 and tried on some mermaids. I was expecting that I’d hate it, but I had 2 that were strong contenders. Here’s one of the dresses I almost bought:

As long as you wear some high heels, mermaids can work. I wound up with a fit & flare which maybe gives better proportions for short ladies! I’m 5’3″ wearing 4.5 inch heels!

I got a fitted A-line Casablanca that I ordered hollow-to-hem. It fit perfectly when it came in and needs no alterations!

I’m 5’2″ and wearing flats or a kitten heel. I went with a very full ball gown from Lazaro & it looks great! Just keep an open mind when you’re trying gowns on. Also, for my appointments I brought 5″ heels even though I’m wearing a short heel because I was simply swimming in all of the samples & could barely walk around. I also did a hollow to hem for my gown.
