I’m 5’3 and 120lbs so similar stats except for my lack of boobs. Don’t listen to them! You can wear any shape you want if you love it and feel good.

Not a sweetheart, but I had such a hard time choosing between a ball gown like this or a mermaid:

rosa clara front

Not the floaty layers that you envision, but I ended up with a trumpet gown that has a removable train to mimic the full gown but a little different and then I have the ease of smaller train:

I’m 5’0 and pretty chubby but here’s my dress. Definitely don’t believe the whole thing about ball gowns not being for shorties. I think it’s all in the waistline. I used to hate ball gowns because a lot of the bridal shops would put me in a drop or basque waist ball gown and they totally turned me into a huge cupcake. I was just about to do like a lot of other brides and get a lace fit n flare but the shop owner stopped me and pulled out this gem just as I was going to pay. I humoured her because she was so good to me in picking out other styles for me to try on and made me feel comfortable. I pretty much cringed inwardly when she pulled out the dress but this one fit just perfectly. I couldn’t believe that was me in the mirror. It turns out that all I needed was natural waist gown.

fourfrenchfries:  those are GORGEOUS  just like your whole LOOK!!! :+)

That’s the color pop I would love for my bouquet but was thinking about the teardrop/cascade style.

I’m not familiar with all the names,  might you share the types of flowers they used?

:+)

Here’s my ballgown.  I’m 5’1, 100 lbs and a D cup.  I think a lot of it has to do with the fit of the gown itself.  I definitely did not feel swallowed up by my dress,  even with the train. I originally wanted lace,  but found that to be very overpowering.  My stepmom made. My try this on and I fell in love.

KareKoosh:  I think you would rock a ballgown! I’m 5’3, 115lbs and I tried on a few ball gowns and loved them. and the one you posted is SO beautiful!!!

Just a word of caution… I went dress shopping on saturday and brought a group of 4 ladies with me. I went with the intent on buying a dress that I had tried on previously, and LOVED, and when we got there, my entourage suggested i try on a few more just to confirm that it’s the other one I want. Anyway, I did, and everyone “loooooooved” one of the dresses (that wasn’t the original dress) so much, and I was so overwhelmed and kind of flattered and happy that they all liked it so much, that I just said yes to it. Fast forward to a few hours later and I’m having a meltdown at the mall because I bought the wrong dress. I ended up going back to the store and exchanging it for the one I originally wanted, so it’s all OK now, but it was definitely a learning experience.

So, moral of the story, stay true to yourself. You won’t be able to please everyone. One person will love “your dress”, another person may have a different opinion. Everyone has a different style/opinion/taste, etc, so just be mindful of my little story when you try on a dress you love and don’t get the reaction you wanted lol it’s a really tough process! But its fun 🙂 good luck and let us know how it goes!!! Xo
