Short light period- possible thin uterine lining?

I’m interested to hear what you find out… I went off the pill in August and have been having crazy long cycles with super short/light periods (same as you described) since then. I am going to do CD3 and CD21 bloodwork next cycle, but my Dr never mentioned an ultrasound. I mentioned the super light periods to her and she basically ignored it, although I question her abilities a little when it comes to fertility anyway (based on conversations with her). Hopefully you get good news! I know I’ve seen a couple ladies on here who have gotten pg with super short/light periods!

After coming off the pill my period was exactly as you described yours.  I asked my RE about if this meant I had a thin lining–he said no, not necessarily (he then showed me a bunch of anatomical drawings to explain why), and the only way to really know is via ultrasound mid-cycle.  In my case, it turned out that I did have thin lining (4mm when they checked) but when I took femara it immediately corrected itself (10mm! and 1-2 days earlier in the cycle).  I got pregnant that cycle.

So, it might mean thin lining, but doesn’t necessarily. My RE said he’s seen more women than he can count with normal linings and light periods.  And even if you do have a thin lining, there are some really easy, cheap, non-invasive ways to correct it.

Good luck in TTC!

MrsKKtoBee :  hi! I kind of went through something similar. I had a second trimester loss and once my period came back regularly it was very short 2-3 days and very light. Like after the first day it was mostly spotting and dark red/brown blood. I made an appointment with my doctor to discuss it as my husband and I were TTC again at that point and I was so worried my lining was not thick enough to sustain a viable pregnancy.

At my appointment I was scheduled for ultrasound and bloodwork. Well, before I could get in for the appointment for ultrasound (it was scheduled for about a month out as they were very busy and that’s when I could get in with my schedule as well) I found out I was pregnant. Hopefully your doctor has some answers for you and if it doesn’t work out naturally it’s an easy fix! Wishing you the best!

I’ve never been on birth control, and I have super light periods as well. I’m sure if you search my name (or look at my post history), you’ll see I made a similar post.  My doctor did some blood work and was not concerned about the fact that my period was so light and short.  Rather, she said it’s more important that your period is regular.  I’ve never had an ultrasound done, but she had me do an HSG and started testing.  She doesn’t seem concerned about lining though.
