Definitely stop the pill several months before the wedding. Sometimes it can take up to a year for your cycles to regulate after the pill.

I would go off now to see how your body is going to react. Start charting to see if you’re ovulating and just use protection until you’re ready to take the plunge.

I agree with stopping BC now and then just use other precaustions, I went off of BC April 2011 and we TTC November 2011 and got pregnant December 2012…I have no way of knowing if it would happen sooner if we had tried but we used other methods of birth control. I got to learn my cycles and was charting and I think it made all the difference in helping me get pregnant pretty quick.

I agree with @yellowbird, just use condoms or another type of protection til you are ready to TTC.

the problem is that its pretty impossible to predict what will happen. You may ovulate the first month or not until several months later and you may ovulate some months and not others. If you go off the pill early and just protection, it gives time for cycles to regulate and let’s you get familiar with your body by charting.

I’d go ahead and stop, just avoid your fertile days until you are ready.  I was in asimilar situation.  I got married last May. I am currently finishing my training (I’m in medicine) which I finish in July this year.  I will start a new job after that and wouldn’t have wanted to take maternity leave for at least 1.5-2 years.  We decided to aim for July so I could put off starting and have baby first, but didn’t want to get pregnant too earlyand have to take time off during my training.  I stopped BC in late August and we just avoided the highly fertile days (I despise condoms!) We were a little careless in October, but actually “tried” in November.  Worked like a charm, I’m due July 27! Not saying its always this easy, but if you give yourself a few months, it’s likely to happen for you. Good luck!

I’d go off now, since the amount of time it takes a person’s body to reglate really seems to vary. I started ovulating again right away, but it took my body a few months to fully adjust… I went off right before my wedding and ended up with acne that I hadn’t had while on birth control and haven’t had since being off for a little while now. I also had really bad cramps/heavy periods the first month or two off bc. It could have also been wedding stress that contributed to the acne, but I don’t think I was even that stressed (except about the acne). So my vote is for now and not right before the wedding. Good luck!
